I have a very dear trusted friend and have handed over all of my finances to her in a bid to regain control of my life. It is the hardest thing to do but I know I will be destroyed if I dont and believe me Im so relieved my bills have been paid this month and a little of my debts! Doesnt stop my compulsive urge to find a way but at least its a start

Hi Retzy,

Well done on taking a step that might really help you. To follow on from that, what do you think about talking to people about your gambling, either in a support group like GA, or one on one with individual counselling? Those are both additional options that could help you even further, hopefully to the point where you're able to manage your own finances again in the future. It's tough to manage those compulsive urges, and those steps could help you work on ways to go about that.

If that sounds like something you might be interested in, we can point you in the direction for counselling on either the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline ( http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/ ) from 8am to midnight every day.

Hope this helps, and hang in there.

Travis
