Hi everyone

I dont have anyone to control my finances so i find that supermarket cards really help.

All the big supermarkets do them-you load them up with cash and away you go!

Every time i get paid i stick 50 quid on one.

the best thing about them is you cannot use them in the bookies, on-line or in the casino

and even tho im 8 wks clean if i slip up then at least i can buy food/toiletries etc etc

Hi Ben

That is a really good idea. I have just been and got a card from Sainsbury's. Mine is for saving for Christmas this year though but same purpose - every time I purchase food, I can add money onto my card each time, as much/little as I want. This will all help for Christmas 2014. I am also doing the same with my Tesco club card. Most of us recovering gamblers do not have anywhere as much money as we used to so I think we have to budget much more wisely and for me, saving in this way for Christmas goodies is one of my new goals.

Take care and good luck with your recovery.

Hi Craigyboy

Not sure about Morrisons but would be worth going in and checking it out.

I find the cards helpful because it takes the pressure off from carrying cash around.

When i leave for work every morning i grab my bus pass and supermarket card for lunch therefore dont have to carry cash for the day.

It also gives you a little bit of financial independence because although sometimes necessary, its not nice someone having to 'dripfeed' you every day. Good luck!!!!
