Hello,
I'm a 21 yrs old student, atm im working as intern in a good company. Started to gamble online for some extra money, it was fine, i was getting easy money(worst that could happend), i felt i was in control, felt like i could win no matter what...until i start losing. I lost small amounts of money and got them back but the rulette made me quit. I was betting on red with the last 15 spins on black. I was out of money, made a bigger deposit, black again and again and again, i lost my mind and deposited all my remaining savings, my hands were shaking, and it came, a RED. Got back most of my money except 2weeks worth salary. Im thankfull that i managed to win my last hand and cashed out without chasing my lost money. I realised that no extra money is worth the stress, the overthinking, the regret, the shame. I am a happy case but i am writing this for you, you all can have a bright future, a new start without gambling, leave the past behind and forget the money you lost.
All the love and support for those that are fighting their addictions nu
Hi Alex,
Well done for quitting and I wish you all the luck moving forwards.
Despite the feeling of ‘control’, gambling has got the better of most of us on here so I’m glad you’re on the right path. You’ll find help and support in abundance here if you ever are feeling low or need some advice so welcome to the club!
In my experience it is quite rare that a GA quits on a win so I hope you stick with it and continue to show the addiction who is in control. I have lost so much money and have made some unimaginable mistakes but it helps me (despite how low and ashamed I feel) to not dwell on it as it helps with the journey to recovery.
Have you looked at support elsewhere other than on the forum? I honestly think it would be a different story for me had I not signed up to GamStop and blocked all my accounts online. GamBan is also another option if you mostly gamble online.
The willpower to stop does wear thin sometimes, so I’d recommend the above for times where you start to think your luck might change, it doesn’t unfortunately.
All the best,
Sjr
Hi Alex,
Well done on spotting the signs, keep it in mind for future as while you did cash out without fully chasing your losses you did gamble your savings on the spin of a wheel. The buzz/rush this can create in your mind is hard to forget and is what draws us compulsive gamblers back. This high is the addiction part really.
