Hi Jane! I just read your post and the whole thread. I admire you for not having gambled this long. Please do not even think of going back. I have a similar story like yourself, I have been gambling for about 6 months. And yes I get the kick out of winning 20 or a few hundreds, until I increased my stakes thinking I can earn thousands! This was the worst thing that ever happened in my life. Last weekend when i had money in my account and all my credit cards were fully paid, I increased my stakes and started playing thousands, but all those thousands went down the drain, so now all of my savings gone and I had to take a large amount of loan to pay my credit cards. I am now faced with having to pay my losses for the next few years. I have self-excluded after the shock of losing thousands in less than 24 hours. I am still in a state of shock, which is why I have signed up to this forum. I wish I had signed up much earlier. I have promised myself not to gamble ever again.

Please do not go back to the habit. I only wish for you not to reach the point I had gotten myself in to.

Hi Ana 🙂 in a way I'm probably lucky that my biggest loss has been a few hundred as I've never had access to any more than that as I'm not working, but it was always the same I'd win a few hundred stop and feel great but then try and see if I could win a bit more and then lose it all. I think I've realised that I'm never going to win enough and It's the buzz and the excitement that kept me going back. I still haven't gambled, I've downloaded games like candy crush to try and keep myself distracted if I get the urge lol I'm feeling sooo much calmer, mo more highs and then massive lows. Just hope I can keep it up. I had a job interview yesterday and have a call back today so I'm keeping everything crossed that this could be my fresh start.

Hi Jane

I have been reading your thread and your story has given me some inspiration as I really need to stop this habit. I have lost a lot of money and will be paying off my debts for a few years but need to kick this habit.

Today is day 1 for me, feels like a long hard road but have started having counselling.

Well done again

Martin

Hi Martin and Ana, nice to hear from you

Hi Jane, doing well I see and hope you get the new job.

I might be moving to Monte Carlo or Dubai but still waiting on final discussions etc - we will see. I suspect I'll end up doing neither!

Anyway, still 'depositing' gamble free but I have to admit to playing a free bonus I was given last night. I lost of course! I don't intent to deposit anything tho!

I live in London, if you had lived closer, I would have suggested a coffee/chat but I rarely get to Bury. Used to have some business up there tho.

Glad you are remaining strong

Steve

Hello Jane,

Have just read your thread and it is good to read you are so commited to stop gambling.

Please read todays article in the on-line daily mail about a couple whose idyllic lives were almost destroyed by on-line gambling.

This horrendous illness can start with the toss of a coin and the addiction to gamble sets in.

These urges are the killer, you have to resist and think of the moment and that moment before you gamble can save you of many hours, days, weeks, months and years of worry. The consequence of going back to gambling is huge as I well know.

Keep reading your thread, start a dairy and remind yourself why you came onto this site to start with.

Each day you dont gamble you win because all of your money is staying safe in your bank/purse. Dont be tempted to play free bonuses (they are not free) and they will cost you, its just another malicious attempt by the gambling industry to lure you back.

Stay safe today, go out away from your pc/laptop/tablet etc the urge will pass and you will feel better.

I wish you luck, please read my diary, that should inspire you to stop before its too late.

Best wishes on your recovery.

Hope x
