Hi guys

Im new to this site. I managed to hit the Gamstop button back in April 2022 and having losts tens of thousands each year to online gambling I noticed a clear summer and rest of the year from gambling and all of a sudden my life managed to come back to some normal.

Unfortunantely though over Xmas when I was off work and had lots of time to myself I discovered many unregulated crypto casinos that I managed to sign up to and start gambling. 7 weeks later I've once again lost tens of thousands and have been left at rock bottom. Sadly I never seeked any specialist support or therapy etc. back in April so had no defence so I was a walking time bomb. Today is Day 1 and I've decided to try and get help. I've done the 12 steps of recovery for my binge drinking last year and have not drank a drop since but it seems my gambling addiction was never cured from that...

Specialist help and advice needed.

A

This is the sad aspect of a new industry without regulations to protect vulnerable individuals including myself.

I know most sites let you ban yourself but it's so easy to change email address and create a new account etc.

My experience in this area is to stay away from them and to not use a VPN to by pass the blocks I believe are still in play on some sites.

The thing is that you are here and are seeking recovery that's just half the battle. Keep on coming to this site or go to physical GA meetings if you can. There is also a live chat on here too which I don't go to often enough but is also full of supportive people.

Also I found myself having a cross addiction with normal gambling and trading which might relate a bit to your 12 step AA meetings. Ironically I don't drink myself not because I am a  drinking addict but because I am a gambling addict and it would lower my standards and make me vulnerable to gambling again

I hope you post again

Well done! How's it going?

I started at unregulated casinos in December 2022 after Gamstop actually started to work cutting my ability to use UK regulated sites.  It was a disaster... no deposit restrictions and a 5 day withdrawal wait so it could be reversed.  I have probably lost £15,000 since December and it hurts.  12 days GF though.

Stay strong.  Get a much help as you can ?
