Hi all , I'm 32 and I guess I've been suffering with addiction for at least 18 years but today is the first time I actually feel ready to admit to it and find help. Today I emptied my partners bank out and our rent account for about the 5th time this year. Winning or losing I need to have that next spin..and I can't stop even though when I'm sat playing inside I'm screaming for someone to stop me and help me but the words won't come out. In 2006 I drank and gambled to the point I couldn't talk to people if I talked I would just cry... I attempted suicide 3 times I should have got help then but I didn't. I have a 4 n half month old daughter .how can I be a dad? I go from gambling to drinking back to gambling.. when one doesn't fulfil my craving I start with the other. I'm rambling and feeling sick but this feeling alone doesn't stop me from repeating everything over and over again I buy FIFA points and coins just to open packs for the rush it gives if I get a very rare player..god I sound pathetic I ll stop now

You need to install a gambling blocker on the websites you play roulette on , trust me even if you had thousands gradually this machine would take it all and leave your head in ruins.

Please call Gamcare and let them help you , drinking and the roulette are disaster , trust me ive been there , done that and lost thousands , a business , many partners in the process.

Hi katyrose2014,

Welcome to the forum, and well done for your post.

It sounds like you’ve been struggling with your gambling addiction for a long, long time now (18yrs.), and unfortunately, you have not gone for some professional help or, attempt to do something about it.

Gambling gets worse if you don’t do anything about it, and it can easily get out of control.

Invariably, you’ve made a brave and good choice by posting in our forum this time, and it’s a move in the right direction which if you follow through, will help and support you to overcome your addiction problem (alcohol problem too).

You’ll find a lot of support from forum members in the form of advice on strategies and boundaries, and they’ll encourage you to keep to the advice that you read from here. You’ll also realise that you’re not alone in this, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel for you provided you stick to what you read and learn from the forum posts.

I’m glad that you’re trying to seek help now, and wanting to make better changes in your life, and not just for you, but for your four and half months old daughter and your partner as well.

Maybe, you’ll like to install one of the following internet blocking software on your pc and mobile phone: Gamblock, Net Nanny, and Betfilter. Pls. read about all of them, and install the one that you think will provide you with the maximum benefit.

Perhaps you’ll also like to contact our free phone Helpline on 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of advisers. An adviser would be able to offer you 12 sessions of free counselling, if you think that would help you to overcome your gambling addiction. We are open everyday from 8.00am till midnight.

Thanks again for your post, and please keep posting.

Best wishes,

Beatrice
