You will beat this and you will look to the future. You have to believe.
Ok. I have messed up. I came back on here because I am still playing the FOBTs. I have been up down up down up down. Down being the last stop as always. I just need to read a few comments to see how everyone is in the same place. I feel like I am back at square one which isnt a bad place to be. Dust off, Start again. Here we go. Going to come on here everyday just to check in. Stay safe people.
Hi Krissy i hope you keep up with the no gambling you sounded so positive when you had a couple of months off a little footie bet here and there but the major thing is that you didn't play the roulette! Iv not played the roulette for 30 odd days now and I feel kinda better. I had a couple of accys at the start of the euros but could see my thought pattern starting to change so stopped right away. My main advice to you mate is just ban yourself from the bookies completely! It does make you feel stupid and it is difficult to do it but honestly knowing that you can't gamble on the FOBTS because you are banned is a better feeling that chucking your last bit of money in!! Like I said I'm 30 odd days off of it I'm still skint but I'm starting to see the benefits of leaving it out! Hope this helps you bud!

To really give up you'll need to put measures in place pal. Hand over your financial affairs to someone close. Seek help from loved ones. It seems a difficult step but it really helped me from a dark place. This forum is great. Self exclusion from online sites, download gamblock or something similar. Regards the bookies, dam those machines they and the roulette have ruined my life for years. Phone 08002942060 you can self exclude from all bookies in your town in one 15 minute call. I wouldn't go into a bookies and self exclude because I felt weak and embarrassed. It's easy in one call. I wish you well and hope with the support and blocks in place know you can overcome your gambling addiction.
I've also found attending regular GA meetings is great for your health. We will always be compulsive gamblers we just need to learn measures and have the will to never gamble again.
Hi
Being here will help and you will not be able to justify any form of gambling to us.
In your moment of strength you need to self exclude and make a day of shutting down everywhere you have been. A day of pride. They are ruining you so shut them out from your life
What you have is your openness and honest in beating a deadly addiction. Its a complex process of mind control, dopamine fixes and thinking it will all come right tomorrow. It wont! Its a losers game and a mugs game. Its not an income scheme.
Its an addiction that needs treating with the fear and respect it deserves. That means strong measures and reaching out for all help.
When you are blocked you will stay away and your mind will heal with close family support and counselling. I couldnt face the shame of breaking an exclusion ban so it did the trick. Now I dont think about wanting to gamble
Being gamble free is a wonderful feeling. It gives a sense of calmness and serenity.
You will then begin to see life clearly and you will see gambling for what it is.
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
I am still playing these silly computer machines after 12 years allowing them make life hard , something tells me it has nothing to do with money its the chemical effect in your brain when you go through the wins and losses and betting process , it is designed for your subconscious in mind by people alike to Illuminati Freemasons goverments , controll and order , I mean when you stand back and look at it , what are you actually doing paying to get robbed from a huge computer game ? Feeding someone else's kids and family whiles the make profit off you and your family suffering , life is not about a ball spinning round a wheel , no wonder why the guy who made the real roullete killed himself never mind the bookie roullete what a criminal act in dicuise , they make you think its your own doing like why can't you control yourself as if it is just you alone , the devil is there with you at all times and believe that he exisists do not be fooled people
Eli, what are YOU going to DO to make things different for you?
Complaining about the machines changes nothing. Complaining generally changes nothing. Taking action to limit your access to gambling and going to counselling and meetings changes everything.
CW
Hi eli , I have to agree with CW there , It's a nice rant at the machines and the industry but if you want to stop playing them then make that decision and put aplan in place to change things .
I'm not having a go as my downfall was the Fob't machines in the bookies and I've lost many thousands over too many years to remember So I can empathise how difficult they are to ignore but that being said I've not placed a bet in over 15 months now , so after 40 yrs of gambling anythings possible and there is a life without gambling in it :))
Best wishes
Alan
Hi all,
I havent been on here for a long time but I felt the need to now. I have been really good lately. I used Gamstop for the online stuff and the MOSES scheme for the bookies. So putting the measures i place has meant its hard for me to actually gamble. Granted lockdown helps too. But ive found myself lookjng for non gamstop casinos. I need to take a step back and breathe. This struggle has been in me for a long time now and find it very hard to control when it surfaces. External measures seem to work for me though. The embaressment of being identified in one bookies and being asked to leave is one reason. Â
