Could really do with some good advise on people’s stories..

I have been gambling around 20 years on and off , more so in my younger years online so I put the five year block in place and Renew each 5 years works a treat

a couple of years back things got out of control, so I self excluded all went well until time up then decided to start again… be sensible I said to myself.. obviously that didn’t last long.

so currently self excluded again but have travelled to shops where I’m not registered on their list!! Can anyone relate to this surely there is an option to ban yourself from all shops as I think it will work knowing if you was to go and collect winnings in a shop 50mile away for example there is that worry you won’t get paid out!

never the less there aren’t any winnings as the fobt just draw you in and swallow the money

today I have been working away went in a few shops in the space of a couple of hours and lost mainly on the machines

feeling ashamed and need to move on

sorry for the rant

To add to this I have always earned good money at work way above average so don’t need the money but can’t seem to get that in my head

Hi Dan,

Thank you for sharing your story with the Online Community. From the sounds of things you've been battling this for a long time, and have found that the self-exclusion restriction facilitated by MOSES feels insufficient. It's understandable to want a ban in place for a wider area - however in the FAQ of the scheme, they point out the following:

"The scheme offers a tailored, bespoke, exclusion that will target the particular areas that are relevant to you. Nationwide exclusions damage the effectiveness of the scheme by increasing the risk of those who self-exclude not being recognised and consequently being allowed to gamble."

It may still be worth speaking with MOSES again to include areas you find yourself in frequently - give them a ring on 0800 294 2060 to see how they might be able to accommodate. In the meantime, you can access advice and support in real time from your peers in the daily chatrooms, or anytime with Advisers on the Helpline.

Wishing you the best,

Mod J
