Hi,
I have finally admitted I have a gambling problem after blowing £1000 last night. Horrible horrible feeling. I have tried to self exclude from the site and have found it incredibly counter intuitive and difficult to do. I still haven't managed to do it even now. Is there a way to register to a place that self excludes from EVERY gambling site with just one form?
Hi Leesy.
I can only describe it like this. When you are ready it just seems so right to self exclude and you will do all that is required with pride.
Fill in the forms and take the fight to them. You will find that you dont mind doing it for all the sites you can think of and more. It took me 10 months to start but when it finally clicked I was ready and it just seemed the right thing to do. I gave them the information I was happy with. If you are online they already have certain personal information so you dont have to worry about confirming that and who you are.
It gave me a real surge of pride and was one of the best days of my life. The other gamblers looked a bit jealous to be honest as they knew I was doing the right thing.
It worked for me and I made sure they knew who I am. I shut it all down locally so I didnt feel welcome at all. Of course it relies on us to some extent but I found I didnt break blocks or seek other places more out of my way.
Self exclusions are backed up by family monitoring and allowances. Good blocks are what is needed
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
Hi Leesy180
Welcome to the GamCare forum. Unfortunately there isn't a scheme that allows you to self-exclude from all online gambling with one form, although the industry is working on something a bit more joined-up than the current system.
In the meantime, as Sam301 suggested, blocking software could help. There's more information about the options available here on the GamCare website:

You don't have to do this alone. There is support here from other forum members. For 1:1 support you are also welcome to contact us on the HelpLine 0808 8020 133 or chat to us on the NetLine. There may be more support available locally near you, through counselling or a local Gamblers Anonymous meeting.
Keep posting and we wish you well in your recovery from problem gambling.
Forum Admin.
I got told that the remote gambling assosiation are setting up a thing called gamstop which allows you to self excluded from all online bookies in the uk, its supposed to be up and running by the end of the year?
Thanks everyone. I made massive strides today. I looked at my website history and chose to come here instead of the site I used. Go leesy!
