Hi everyoneÂ
It’s been 7 long days since it has to come to light by my family that I have been gambling and wracking up huge debts to do so.  This is the second time I have done this and managed to stay gamble free for 7 years.  Ultimately the demons came back and I started again 3 years ago.
3 years ago, the bank account in my name only sent me a new bank card (I remember ringing them to cancel on the first demise but clearly wasn’t done).
So money worries aside you can guess the rest ! I then borrowed against that account and started gambling again. All my worries would be sorted!! Funny thing is I didn’t actually lose money overall gambling but certainly didn’t make what I needed every month to start paying off the loans which I then had to take more of just to meet the monthly payments.
My ‘lightbulb’ moment was last Sunday.  Having been directed here by my husband I read some posts on the forum, in particular from Captain (Hi if you read this) and realised I am a Compulsive Gambler.  I had NEVER admitted this before but realised it was true.  My 15 year old daughter had to console me (as if!!) and helped me block b*****r for life.  I’ve always lay bet so did not have any accounts with the bookies. Â
My first phone counselling session is tomorrow and hoping for the best.
That’s amazing your getting help. First day for me today! I stopped for 6months and this time I’m back at break even and need to stop before it goes into minus like last time! Payday tomorrow and that’s a scary thought! Xx
I know what you mean about payday.  I am exactly the same.  I got paid on Wednesday this week and it is almost all gone. I have now sought help through this site and spoke to someone.  I just feel like it draws me in.

Thanks for your post. Â Please get blocks on the site, it really helps, stay strong for today, one day at a time.
Well done for getting help, I have this week and starting counselling next week, we can do this.
Dear @cazer, @hannah33 and @miggers,
welcome to the Forum all. And well done for taking action, reaching out and making changes.
Recovery is (for lack of a better word) a journey. It will be a bit bumpy at times but the road is clear and you will have help along the way.
Â
Wishing you all the very best,
Eva
