As a professional sportsman you would think private treatment  wouldn't be provided and above all better quality. I am a young gambler that at 18 turned my boyhood dream into a reality and become a professional sportsman.Â
Unfortunately 6 months later I was introduced to the roulette wheel and my life changed,Â
6 years on Ive quit my boyhood dream to focus on myself, my anxiety and depression through gambling was having a impact on my mental health and realised the profession and everything that comes with that wasn't as important as myself, I gambled everything I worked for all my money everything, started on roulette and blackjack and went to things I had no idea about, middle of the night Russian mixed doubles table tennis.
Through my sports career I've had numerous of people and services help but nothing has worked, I was in a position where id began to set myself up for my future but now I'm in isolation at my parents house with child locks on wifi and no bank cards. Ive struggled with this addiction because of family issue and a stressful life and sued gambling to help deal with the stress.
I last gambled a while now, but sitting in isolation with no face to face help ive turned to good old British community to help me through this tong periodÂ
Hello,
As a sportsman or ex sportsman you have a wealth of help and advice available for you. The help that you need is no different than anyone else though, so welcome to the forum.
I Believe Sporting chance is currently on lockdown but once they open I would contact them and see if they can help.
Use Gamstop to block any online gambling or some other form of software to stop access to gambling on your phone or laptop.
Pick up the phone to one of the Gamcare advisers and talk about yourself. How you feel, how you react to situations, and don't worry too much about the future. I guess you're mid twenties so you have a whole lifetime in front of you. It might not seem like it but you do.
After lockdown go to a gamblers anonymous meeting and meet people there. They'll understand and be able to help.Â
You've made the biggest step by admitting you have a problem. Now use this platform, start a diary, talk about yourself, and most importantly, how you are feeling.
All the best
Chris.
