Wishing all members well in their recovery . I joined Gamcare 5 days ago after another disaster on the FOBT . Early days in my recovery and I have given in so many times before . Hoping the support of Gamcare will make me stronger and better able to say no to the addiction .

Welcome to the forum abstainer 🙂

This is a great place to be for support & a safe place to ride out urges. Have you signed up for any counselling or looked @ GA?

I had a 30 year affair with machines so know fine well the damage they cause & how hard the last 6 days would have been for you...So a massive welcome on board the recovery train. Make this time count - ODAAT

Thankyou ODAAT. I have requested counselling . Attended GA for several years but after an initial good spell of 5 months I kept giving in to the addiction. Am hoping with GamCare being something new for me I can give it 100 % and remain positive .

Did you have loved ones on board, utilise blocks, work the steps? I'm not knocking GamCare & it certainly helped saved my sorry r*e but the best way to tackle recovery is from as many angles as possible so good on you for requesting the counselling 🙂 If you're planning on sticking around, it would be worth setting yourself up over on the recovery diary section & there is a chatroom in the evenings (various times) that you may find interesting/useful. Knowing that you need to be committed is so important & nothing can take recovery from you if you want it bad enough!

Thankyou for advice ODAAT, much appreciated . it's a new beginning and a fresh opportunity for me to live a life free from gambling . I know i can do it if I maintain my resolve , stay positive and focussed on my recovery . I can't undo the damage done or recoup monies lost . The past is over but hopefully I can salvage something positive from this shameful life .
