I have now nearly completed DAY 8 of no gambling. After a 248 DAY abstinence from gambling I let my guard down last Saturday 10th May 2025 and lost £650 chasing a lost £30.
This is a sizeable sum of money for me to lose as I am a supply teacher and it will take 4 full days to make up this list money.Â
However compared to some I know this is probably a small amount and it is the extent of my financial damage so far.
I know how easy gambling addiction is to spiral out of control and for you to lose your entire savings which scares the life out of me.Â
I have taken control by authorizing my bank to block any gambling transactions on my cards and in the next few days I am going to self exclude myself from all the UK online gambling sites.Â
I am determined to go beyond my 248 gamble free period this time and never ever return to it.Â
On day 8 has anyone got any other tips to stay gamble free?Â

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing with us. 248 days is a massive achievement, despite a slip up, and a large financial hit, I can hear your frustration about this, but you’ve taken action with bank blocks and self-exclusion, this is great recovery skills.
