Hi everyone,

I want to make this short and sweet, but at the same time, convince you all that this, IMO, is the ONLY way to recover.

I am 24 years old, you may think thats young, but (legally) that has given me 6 years to rack up an obscene amount of debt, lose an extreme amount of trust and get myself into a hole of compulsive gambling.

After continually gambling, stopping, failing, gambling I did the worst thing possible, but this also proved to be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Around 2 months ago, I stole money from my father. I managed to get hold of his details whilst tilting about £2,000 on sports betting. I though to myself, I'll steal the money, win it back, despoit it back and come up with an excuse (leaving him not out of pocket).

I lost £700 of stolen money.

He called me up the next day saying his card had been frauded. This was the moment I admitted to him, my family and friends what I do in my spare time, where all my money goes, why I am out of pocket the whole time, why I couldn't go to that social event and more importantly the truth about everything.

I haven't had the urge nor have I gambled since admitting it. Since then, I have (openly to everyone) started one on one counselling and its the best thing ever. My life is completely changing. I am now saving money, paying off debts and AT LAST have a girlfriend and spend my money enjoying myself with friends.

The point of the story - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell your loved ones the truth. They will be horrified to begin with, but they end up caring and helping you through. You need people there to recover. I tried 1000 different methods but this really is the only step to recovery in my opinion. It will change your life.

You become an honest person over night.

Feel free to comment back.
