I have joined today

i started gambling 15 years ago by watching a work colleague use a accumulater sport betting sheet  and getting lucky and winning £10 but only if I knew I will be losing thousands month in month out .. for years and years

I wait to get paid fortnightly, the during the day I’ll get the excitement and nervous tension

when it hits 12 am midnight I’ll check my online banking to see how much k got paid and deposit all of it into my gambling account and get wrecked

after the ordeal I’ll get night sweats, tossing n turning the bed , lucid dreaming.. and keep having to wake up with pain if financial loss

the following morning I will be like a zombie getting ready for work thinking why am I working for? What did achieve ?
Mira horrible beyond comprehension

it’s time to take action … my close ones have suffered from the collateral damage

enough is enough

Hello @Shaf1983,

Welcome to the GamCare forum. I'm really glad you have joined and hope you find the support and encouragement from other members to be helpful.

It sounds like it has been a really tough time for you, and I imagine it feels so frustrating when you are working hard only for your wages to be lost on gambling.

A lot of people will relate to payday being a major trigger for their gambling; you are not alone in this. However with the right support in place, people can and do recover from problem gambling, and you are taking a really good step by accessing peer support.

You are also always very welcome to contact us on our Helpline on 0808 8020 133, on Netline, on WhatsApp or Facebook to speak one to one with an advisor, who can discuss with you various options which can help. We are here 24 hours.

Please keep posting; we are here for you.

Best wishes,

Sophie

Hi Shaf.

Can I ask you a question ?. Do you think the gambling den bosses are tossing & turning all night thinking o*g if Shaf's bet comes in we're finished. Here's the thing, they don't have losses, WE DO. The odds are set in THEIR favor not ours. They've laughed at us & taken our money for too far long.

Here's the best advice anyone can give you. You want to hit them where it hurts most in the same way they've hurt you ?. Fill in gambling time with something new, discover yourself & discover your potential. I'm no Einsteiin but now I see how they drew me towards them convincing me there's an easier way to make money than working for it.

A wise man once told me you can't have too many blocks in place. How right he was. Separate yourself, try & get through the next few weeks, then ask yourself as your bank balance grows who needs who the most. It's easy money gambling that's why we're all talking on here, broken, relationships ruined & riddled with guilt whilst the gambling dens are reviewing their next marketing tricks to hit their targets by grooming the next generation about HARMLESS FUN.

Best Wishes

AL
