Hello, again, Chris,

On the basis that I'm not qualified to comment, it's the addict in you that tells you to go it alone, you don't need anyone else, no one else could possibly help or understand.

Addiction tells you that but it's not true, behold addicts in recovery. It's worth overcoming the reluctance for talking, for groups. The help is there but only you can choose to take it.

I've just had a good talk with a Gamcare councillor. It has helped & he's gave me some good advice. It's a start I guess. I'm just not confident enough to talk in a group so want to start with one to one first. my parents couldn't handle it tbh & I've got no one else I'm close enough to tell. Chris

Hi Chris

I feel your pain!! I think we all do. I have recently admitted to myself and my family that I am addicted to slot machines. There is something that happens in my brain that becomes fixated when I play them and it leaves no time for anything else. I am also single but I think that is a good thing right now, its one less person to disappoint!! I'ma spend some time beating this addiction, getting to know me again and enjoying the little things in life. But its not easy. I gambled again yesterday but I am determined that was the last time. As one wise wag said on here "nothing changes if nothing changes" but now its my attitude that has changed. I have overcome some pretty big things in my life and I'm determined that this is one battle I will win!!

Good luck with your own fight 🙂

Linda

Hi, Chris,

I've just re read this whole thread and everything you could possibly need to know has been said, particularly in the older replies.

At the end of the day, it's down to you to make the changes, for you, because you're worth it. No magic wands but a real effective effort from, actually following the advice, that's what will bring changes.

Go for it.
