Hi this is my story for the past 6 months I've been addicted to online slots.

I got introduced by a friend in match betting thinking i coulkd make money but one day I had ago at the slots and won £600 which was amazing and slowly I got sucked in and its been a rollercoaster. I haven't got the money to gamble I just rob Peter to pay Paul constantly. I'm a 40 year old single parent /full time carer to a disabled child and all I wanted to do was make money to give him things problem is I haven't I've just blown it on an hour playing a game.

A month ago we had booked to go on a family holiday I blew all our holiday money on online slots it was like I couldn't stop I was desperate to win my money back. In the end I had to lie to my family and say I'd lost my money. You would have thought this would have stopped me but no the day we came home I was straight on the internet and blew £50.

But today was the last straw after losing £200 last week I still gambled £80 away which would have paid the bills this week NO MORE I'm sick of the stress the ups and downs but most of all the lying. So I'm going to walk away I've put software on my laptop moved it out of site blocked emails and rang GA.

Its going to hard but I just need to remember I am doing this for my son. So far done 8hours

Hi ellatucker20. Well done for recognising this has to stop and for taking the step of joining the forum and sharing your story. By doing that you should get support and insight and new perspectives from other forum users.

There are things you, and dianep1965, can do to make your recovery easier. Have a look at the advice section of our website for more information on blocking software and other measures you can take to make it harder to gamble online.

You could also try getting a family member to look after your bank cards so you can't use them online. Order new cards, so the old numbers don't work any more, and make sure your family member takes the new cards as soon as they arrive so you're not tempted to use them.

You can also self exclude from all the accounts you have open, so you can't use these any more.

For more information and support, including access to counselling and signposting to other sources of support, you can call our helpline on 0808 8020 133. You can also chat to us 1:1 on the Netline. We're here 8am to midnight every day.

Best wishes

Deirdre
