Just a quick post to say Hi.

I’ve been a compulsive gambler for around 30 years with all the resulting problems that characterise this appalling addiction. My speciality for the last 10-15 years has been FOBT’s.

Last year was particularly bad, even by my standards. 16 payday and sub prime loans over the year.

Anyway, tomorrow will be 100 days since Jan 01st. I haven’t gambled. Not even a lottery ticket.

HaVe sorted out my debts by contacting all my creditors and agreeing a plan.

Have given control of finances to my wife. We now have saved £1000 exactly since Jan 01 in an account with no card so the money can’t be touched.

Feeling calm and taking things a day at a time. Have accepted that I will always have this illness but there are things I can do to protect myself which is why I am posting.

In my experience things can get better quite quickly once the gambling fog of madness has cleared.

If anyone is struggling tonight and can’t see a way forward, just take that first step. We all deserve a better life.

Hi aidan,

Well done on your 100 days gf. I thought your post was very positive in that you have made some really constructive changes towards protecting yourself from problem gambling, and that others may take encouragement from your post. Accordingly I have moved it from "New member intros" to the "Overcoming problem gambling" forum, where it is likely to be seen and receive responses from other forum members.

All the best,

Forum Admin.
