I also relapsed today and it sucks.  The only benefit you can get it working out why it happened and how you can use this to stop future relapses I guess.  I do the same, I’m going on holiday and think oh I’ll just win x amount to pay for this accomodation, I need new t-shirts I’ll just win that and stop.  Thing is, even if I do win the amount I wanted I’ll end up spending it all anyway.

I guess the positives for me is I identified my trigger which was a friend asking me to gamble with him.  I nullified this by telling him I struggle and not to mention gambling to me, he even self excluded himself to help me.

another positive is I thought about what I was doing in the moment and stopped after one deposit, which I’ll usually keep going and going all night until I’ve deposited many many more times.  I thought of this group and how disappointed in myself I was and having to tell the group I’ve relapsed.

guess what I’m trying to say is identify why you did it, and try to be better next time.

For example if you want a pair of sunglasses, instead of trying to win say $200 from gambling, maybe save $50 for four weeks then treat yourself, when you get through the 4 weeks of no gambling you’ll have enough for the glasses and maybe more left over depending on how much you would normally gamble.

good luck we’re all in this together
