Just checking in Day 51 for me today. Feeling so much better already and making use of the spare time I have fairly easily at the moment which is helping keep my mind off gambling.

Hi checking on Day 15 for me. Not that its much of an achievement as I could probably go to Day 150 then lose so much in couple of days, it really is the intermittent blow out I need to look out for.

But then again if I don't start at all it cant happen.

Good luck all.

Good evening everyone!!

So week 2 of the 2014 challenge and the team has lost 3 members, is at risk of losing another, but amazingly, the 3 we have lost have been replaced with new soldiers!

We have only one member who never checked in this week which appears at the bottom of the list. I am very confident that this is just a “forget to check in” moment rather than a lapse, so hopefully the team will increase by at least another one next Sunday and we’ll also get the benefit of his pretty amazing number of days of abstinence

So onto the awards for achievements of the week. It’s been a really tough one to call this week, so in true CG fashion, I’m going to spread my bets and cover a few very worthy winners! I need to say though…..and maybe this is a learning for me throughout this whole recovery process……..when we set out on this journey together, I didn’t think we’d be sitting with half of the original members by the end of week 2…..and as people have joined I’ve fully expected there to be relapses, drop outs etc. all over the place. The learning is that the mindset of a recovering CG is inherently negative……..this thread is beginning to bring so much positivity and belief, not only to me but to everyone taking part. Let’s not underestimate the achievements of ourselves and each other for every single day we’ve gone without staking a penny. I could award for so many different reasons and I’m acutely aware of the struggles that many of you had - your day will come, every day you don’t gamble! Positivity and belief comes through in the awards tonight:-

Milestones of the week (soldiers who have reached a big number on the journey during the week):

2012the year - 50 days free today!

Ron81 - 50 days free on Friday!

Maybe - 80 days free yesterday!

Delboy79 - an absolutely amazing 150 days free on Friday!

Hero of the Week

There can only be one winner of this this week and that goes to Hopeful-Liam - what could be argued as a moment of weakness turned into the greatest victory of the week. Congratulations on the withdrawal mate, for having the courage to tell us about it, for the strength to abstain, for giving us all belief that we can do this……..but most of all for feeling such a sense of loyalty to this team that you would not let yourself or any of us down by placing that bet.

Achievement of the Week

Last award of the night goes to Rock_Bottom and let me explain why. RB referred to a thread on a different forum in one of his posts during the week. Having read the posts, as I am sure many of you will have done, RB showed the ultimate in humility, strength, positivity and honesty in both his response to the original poster and also to a legend on this site. RB, you did something that I would have struggled doing and my initial reaction would have been to react, lash out……and most probably go away from the forum for a while and sulk…….potentially even leading me to falling off. You are a gentleman and should be hugely proud of what you’ve done.

So here we go then..........for week ending 12th January 2014, here is our roll of honour (assumption made that regardless of when check in was made, each person has stayed clean through to today):-

Our total days clean as a group has reached an incredibe 921 days clean of gambling. We have 22 active members and one lapsed.

On the principal of £100 per day average we have saved ourselves a total of.........

£91,200

That’s just an unbelievable number!!

So the man who we want to see checking in along with everyone else is……

AdamPrice

We are a team, each and every one of you are part of that team………and a team is only ever as strong as its weakest player. We will all be that player at some point over the next weeks - that’s when we need to ask each other for support, to remember our commitment to ourselves and each other and to keep marching to that daily victory……..and to be proud to shout about it!!

Once again, here's to us.....and here's to next Sunday…….make sure you get your check ins in well before 8pm! Just a word of warning……….it may be Monday before I manage to do the update next week! Stay strong everyone.

Thanks for the time you are putting in MR B as running this post must take up a lot of time. But your time spent running it is helping me a lot. If Forest ever play up my way the beers are on me!

Only just stumbled across this group and scanning through it looks like a great thing you have created Mr B!

I am not gamble free in 2014 as my lightbulb moment only came last Tuesday. I have been strong since then and looking forward to a financially better future!

Best of luck to all of you
