Great stuff.

I have 47 days under my belt currently so would be honoured to add that to your cumulative total. (This achieved in part due to the 90-day Christmas Challenge in the Diaries thread! Overlapping challenge threads = exactly what I need at the moment.)

Let's do this together, friends. We all want the same thing, and we all wish it for each other, so let's treat ourselves as we would our friends and help ourselves to refrain. 🙂

Clean in 2014! FF

Brilliant FF - welcome!!! That's an amazing achievement - you are now the Yoda of the group and the person we'll all look to for support in hanging on to your shirt tails.........

You've also just invented our catchphrase........

"CLEAN FOR FOURTEEN!!!!"

I'm on day 6 without a bet, day by day this is hard. I couldn't possibly plan a year without a bet, but if I can stay strong and day by day live 2014 without a bet it would probably be the best year of my life. Lifes a mess for me at the moment and the only way to pick up the pieces and start living again is to beat this horrible illness.

Heres to a happy 2014 for us all and steering clear of the bookies for me!

Morning everyone - so, it's Christmas Eve and the weather is terrible........a day for being cosy in the house, wrapping presents (embarrassingly that won't take me long this year, but I'll make it up to them next year), watching films.........and winning another victory.

Some people have been a bit quiet recently......so, can we have a check in of everyone in the group please.......number of days clean and a couple of lines on how you're doing......plus any asks of the group you may have.........

So, Day 16 for me......tired......a bit angry still, (See my diary post).......but with some feelings of pride beginning to emerge now.........I'm going to win this.

Have a good Christmas Eve everyone!!!

Hi everyone. I would love to join the challenge.

The worse my gambling got the more scared I got of what would happen to me or what I would do to myself. I would never have actually carried out these thoughts as I love my family so much, especially my kids but I can see how this type of addiction can make people desperate.

26 days gamble free

Hi everybody. It has been 13 days since I last had a bet and I am hoping that I will never return to the bad days of betting. After 25 years of living a life of a compulsive gambler It had come to breaking point. Loss of family, friends, huge amount of debt and nearly the loss of my wife and children I have to give up. I have attended 2 GA meetings which are working as it allows me to offload my problem with others in the same situation. Still thinking of betting each day but I am taking it as a day at a time. Thanks for listening and I hope that you all have a bet free 2014.

Just to add my two penneth - the idea of a year without gambling, or a lifetime even must seem like a dream to most on here but going from being a problem gambler to nothing is, well not impossible, but quite unrealistic. It's a bit like a football team struggling to stay in the premier league one season then having the ambition to win the title the very next!

My suggestion would be make it your mission when you awake each day to be - ' I will not gamble today'. Achieve that and the rest will take care of itself.

Best wishes

Dave

Thanks Dave for your thoughts. I will be trying to take it a day at a time and hopefully as you said the rest will take care of itself.
