That's 18 of us so far - there's a few names that I've not seen kicking about on the forum for a while (Marek and a couple of others) so I'm hoping we all stay in tact as a group.

Good luck!!

Hi T, Welcome to Clean for 14. Sorry to hear that you slipped up, but very glad that you have posted and joined us. I am finding the whole group thing really helpful and motivating. Last night was tough, but I got through with coming on here, chewing my nails off and watching Mamma Mia...I wouldn't recommend the last 2 as a permanent fix...! I spoke with my sister today who asked how the whole gang on here we're doing. So a whole bunch of other people are supporting us too. She asked if we all stayed clean for a year we would go and celebrate in Vegas! Important to keep a sense of humour as far as I am concerned.

Would love to join this challenge. Started my diary on day 1 of my fight for total abstinence (21st Nov 2013) and have managed to stay gamble free since. Hoping this year to pay off some of my debts and if I can refrain from gambling should be ok. Seems like such a positive thread and I think that's what we all need to help us out. Good luck everyone

Hi Ron81, Well done you! I can't believe it took me so long to discover this site, or perhaps so long to admit I had a problem. Keep up the good work. Clean for '14.

3 days gamble free so far... admittedly I have very little money available to actually gamble, but I'm still counting these days.

Jan 24th is when things get difficult, when I get paid.

Well this is the early hours of day 16. 2014 should be fantastic for us all so lets all kick on. We could all have a much better life if we steer clear of that first bet!

Hi Mr Brightside and all of the Clean for '14 team! We can.... actually, WE WILL DO THIS!!!!!!

I haven't been on here for the past week or so as I have been uber busy with Christmas, family, work and drinking (not in the order of priority though :-)).

I am now sitting pretty on 38 days completed, gamble free. Admittedly, a few tough days on the road, but what doesn't cause you to slip, will make you tougher to break father down the line.

I have started to enjoy my money (just for this month over Christmas) to show myself the amount of fun you can have socialising with friends rather than just s**nk*ng your money up the wall.

I don't miss waking up in the middle of the night to find a bet I placed half asleep had lost, for money I never had.

The toughest time will come now, with a quiet Janurary ahead, I will now need to occupy myself as my main thing I gambled on, has re-started, the tennis season. I am now just watching at an arms length and not getting too involved in the results or matches.

Sorry for rambling on, but I thought I would try and share my story so far, to the group. I am going to join the gym within the next week to hopefully shed 4 stone and to occupy myself over the quiet month ahead.

Keep strong Clean for '14 team!!!!

Liam, being hopeful.

38 🙂
