Checking in 4 days clean today. Its a big football day today when I usually place an unsuccessful accumulator. Instead im taking my girlfriend out for a nice meal with a few drinks. Hopefully this can be a great year.

18 days today. 18 days as a normal human being, being able to do normal things. Its refreshing to be in a shop and be able to buy something or have money for a night out. For 17 years I missed out on all this. Lets keep fighting this together!

Day 34 - still here. Saturdays are not easy I used to love a bet on the football but I know only too well where this leads. Why has it taken 7 years to come to this conclusion? Having money in my account is something of a novelty so trying to spend it sensibly. Best wishes.

Checking in... 6 days clean.

I've really struggled today but will have to accept that there will be days like this.

Day 8 for me, was tempted yesterday but about time I kept me hard earned money instead of donating it to bosses of the betting companies. Im sure the company was very pleased that when they called me in December to offer me a new account (after I had requested several times to be permanently excluded!) that I decided to accept their offer??

Cost me thousands in a few days and Im sure they had a nice Xmas present from it:(

Even after opening it, I closed it again permanently, the day after I asked to reopen it...

during that conversation they acknowledged my point about a gambling problem but then said oh its ok we can reopen the account...

But the company is regulated by the FSA not the Gambling Commission - and the FSA obviously have no regard to consumer protection in the case of spread betting!!

I feel sick with what I did. But only way is forward.

Thanks for all the check in folks - only half an hour for those who have not checked in for the week to get in there and get their name on the list!

I'm getting excited to pull it all together later this evening.

I am Mr Brightside and I have not gambled for 28 days now.

Update you all soon!!

Good evening everyone!!

So despite server problems with Gamcare, here are the scores on the doors for our first official week of check ins.....

Firstly, the name of anyone who has not checked in during the week will appear on the list at the bottom of the post and I've not added their days to the tally. One week more for these guys to check in, or I'm sorry, regretfully you'll fall of the list. I just hope you've not fallen off the really important thing!

Secondly, each week and completely by my own deciding (ha ha!), I'm going to award the achievement of the week award! I think by virtue of checking in and staying clean for any amount of days is hugely significant and please don't think in any way I'm belittling the achievements of every single person, but every now and again additional recognition is required! This weeks achievement goes to leedsv for breaking through 100 days of being clean - superb achievement mate - really well done.

So here we go then..........for week ending 5th January 2014, here is our roll of honour (assumption made that regardless of when check in was made, each person has stayed clean through to today):-

Name / Last Check In Date / Days

Our total days clean as a group is a phenomenal 708 days clean of gambling. With 20 of us in the group, if we all stay clean for this coming week and one of the guys below checks in, then we'll have 2 years of no gambling between us......that's where the achievement of the week would go!

On the principal of £100 per day average (if you look at my diary today, my average for the 4 weeks before stopping was >£200 a day losses) we have saved ourselves a total of.........

£70,800

Absolutely incredible!!!

So the guys who we want to see checking in who never managed to this week, aside everyone on the list for this week are....

Marek

Judderman

Jam C

An incredible effort from everyone and a challenge that is hopefully helping everyone in some way. The guys with the high days, we are depending on you! In fact, as a team we are depending on everyone. Don't let yourselves down and don't let the team down....hard as it may be at times....one day at a time.

Here's to us.....and here's to next Sunday!

Great work Mr Brightside. You should be proud of your effort and time that you commit to producing a weekly total. Brilliant idea as well regarding the weekly achievement nominee.

All ready looking forward to reporting in next weekend.

Have a good week. Mike

35 days/5 weeks without spending a single penny on gambling. I am very happy and moving forward positively despite being verbally abused and having a thread dedicated to my failings. RB

Hi Mr Brightside

I am back to day 0 but would like to start the challenge as think this support is what I need to keep on track as have relapsed. You are so so positive and the way you are collated the weekly stats is motivational.
