Well done John for coming on and sharing your news. You can now move forwards and just learn from it if you can. The days will soon pass by, you know how to avoid gambling ... You've been doing it. Keep your wits about you and do everything in your power to stay gamble free.

Day 111 for me. I think this is the longest I've gone gamble free since before my daughter was born and she's now five.

Well done for coming this far. Hope you can enjoy Christmas a lot more with your daughter this year without the stress of gambling. I know I will! I gave up on Boxing Day last year and it's a relief to know this year will be much better for me and my family.

Keep at it !

Good morning everyone,

Checking in to report that I have been gamble free for 2 years today. I'm very happy to see the progress I have made over the past 24 months since I stopped gambling. It hasn't been easy to say the least, but my life is finally getting back to how it should be without all of the damage that comes with a gambling lifestyle.

Me and my family's life have been turned around for the better, since I finally admitted my addiction and stopped on the 13th Dec 2013. Since that day, I am slowly but surely, regaining the trust of my wife, children, family and friends. Over the 25 years that I was a compulsive gambler, I caused so much misery and pain, on the most most important people in my life and it had to stop.

My gambling lifestyle caused me to rake up thousands and thousand of pounds worth of debt, It put my marriage at breaking point, I lost the trust of everyone who I knew and made me conduct some terrible things to feed my addiction.

Over the past 2 years, I have looked at myself and tried to figure out how, if possible, could I get my life back on track. I'm pleased to say it has improved significantly, as I now no longer have sleepless nights worried about money, no longer lie to my wife about money and gambling, no longer take out loans, payday advances, borrow money of people to feed a gambling addiction. But now, I spend quality time with my wife & children, of which I had little time to do when gambling and I now have the confidence and commitment to walk past a bookmakers, without going in and wasting hundreds of pounds.

I have finally got my financial situation on track, and only last month, I put down a deposit on a new build house, having been excepted for a mortgage. This now gives me the chance to give my family back something for the future having blown / wasted, well earned money previously. This would have never been possibly at all, when I was a selfish, deceitful gambling addict.

The big question I ask myself regularly is would I every gamble again? I would never say no as I have read and spoken to many gambling addicts who have abstained for years and then slipped back into their old ways. But I have to stop because I would lose so much and I honestly think that placing a bet would completly destroy me.

For that reason, I keep myself on guard at times to combat against all eventualities.

Sorry for the rant, but I do hope that each and every one, trying to stop this nasty addiction can have a better future without gambling.

Have a great Sunday.

Mike
