Hi all,

I'm just checking in and am glad to say I am still gamble free, only day 5 but feeling very positive about this challenge. I cannot really talk to any of my friends and family about this as I vowed to those that I care about that I would kick this affliction in the past, I'm therefore thankful for the opportunity this forum has given to hold myself accountable.

Special thanks to Andy (Better Life) for your reply to my post, sounds like we have followed a similar path and are battling the same demons, much appreciated, really good to hear from you, please feel free to reach out if you need to & I will do the same.

All the best,

Steve

If Nick10011 is reading this can you please give me a count of how many days free from gambling you are so I can include you in the first weeks update.

Also pellekanin and OneMoreDayLesMis can you please make a post with a little more of an introduction of yourselves and what form of gambling you struggled with.

Morning folks, Happy New Year to all of you!

I would like to check in on my 59th day gamble free. Im not getting complacent but i fully intend to enjoy this year and get my life back on track and abstaining from gambling would help this massively! I was at a Vegas Club night for New Year and they were handing out fake dollars to play at a Blackjack table to win chocolates....i gave my dollars away Im taking the challenge that serious, nothing is gonna put Blackjack back in my thoughts!

Take care and to all the newbies, i never thought i could go 59 days so stay strong!

My main vice has been sports betting on horse racing and football. I have lost tens of thousands of pounds this year and am now paying it all back pound by pound. I fell into the trap of chasing my losses and thus compounding my misery. Even when I was in temporary profit I became greedy and threw it all away. I could not win because I could not stop. I want to make 2015 a gamble-free year. I have done it before (2012) so I can do it again.

14 days clean today.

Well done on making thtat choice Gregg, abstsaining completely is the best way to stop those bad thoughts coming back into our heads. I used to enjoy quiz machines in the pub but now avoid them as in a way its gambling, I also never buy raffle tickets, I'm sure neither would make me slip up, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks pellekanin, sounds similar to my story. In tomorrows update there will be a couple of entries from people who completed the 2014 challenge, its amazing how much of a change in their life it made. We can all have the same year and make the same huge changes in our life if we stay clean for 15!

Hello i have just joined as a new member and want to commit to not gambling for the rest of my life.

The amount of money I have lost is astronomical and all I have done is lose more then try and win it back with no success. I started on sports betting then went onto the tables.

Thanks for starting this challenge off and im looking forward to getting help and support through this forum
2015 needs to be a fresh start for me i have gambled for close to 15 years with very few breaks!

Hello fellow soldiers. Checking in on, what I think is, day 193. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and 2015 will be just as great. For me, 2015 will hopefully bring some peace of mind financially as debts diminish. Resolutions are made (2 already broken, but still GF). Who wants to be a skinny non-smoker anyway! Err, me actually. But, one step at a time. If I can abstain from gambling, I can certainly put my mind to others things. Just not all at the same time!

"I can't believe it's been a whole year since I didn't become thin."

Keep marching fellow troops. I'm right here with you all.

Ellie x
