Hi all..please see below latest days count. Great to see the numbers in an upwards trajectory with a few new and returning members.

We've lost a few members this week ; Glads Dad, Hallster, adampoker, justwanttobenormal, Ricke6832, donas1979 and JaneyMc - hope you are all well, please check in if you want to to continue on the challenge. I find it a massive benefit to see the days racking up.

Chard, would you like to give a little background to your gambling story? It may help yourself and also others on the challenge.

Hi i would like to get involved with the challenge as well as resurrecting my old posts.

Last year i managed to refrain for eight months before a bet on the gold got me back heavily involved again. In the run up to christmas i managed to blow a few thousand and pretty much made my christmas torture. Put myself into financial trouble as i wont get paid till end of january. However i managed to hit a purple patch till now and got myself in a better position but knowing it was only a matter of time till my luck ran out. It did today. I lost over £300 but although i hate losing money i am glad because i have been looking forward to getting back on a gamble free run and until i lost i wasnt prepared to do this.

So here we go i ask for your support to get back to my gamble free ways with the peace of mind that this will bring.

Checking in on day 12. No roulette/fobt nonsense. The thing is when i didnt have a problem with it i really enjoyed playing and even used to win, but i started to get greedy, i might have had a win in the morning then couldnt keep still and go back in the afternoon and lose it. i had a roulette free period from nov 28th-dec 31st, a good 33 day break, now im on day 12 and determined to beat that and more.

I'll remove you from the challenge...sorry you feel that way.

You may get more traction from an individual diary in the Recovery Diary section. There are often more active viewers and posters around that section of the forum.

Wish you well going forward and the challenge remains open for you should you need it.

Hello All, I know I am a little bit late but i would like to join in the chalenge.

I am 48 dyas gamble free, horse racing is my big problem, blocked from all sites and bookies. Was doing well, with Christmas and work to keep me busy. But the few days over Christmas especialy Boing Day with all the horse racing on and time off was tough. But I managed to abstain, snd I am enjoying having money in my account this late in to a month for the first time in years.

I dont know if this is the place to put this, but I have replaced gambling with gym going and running. Getting fit is my new years resolution! Signed up for a Sport Relief Mile as motivation, just need to keep training for it, (and gaining some sponsors!) and it has filled my free time after work. Closing in on 50 days gamble free and I feel positive.

Sorry for the ramble.

Welcome D Western to the 2016 challenge. You have done the right thing by taking up a hobby/exercise to keep you occupied instead of visiting the bookies. Boredom + money in you pocket will only result in one thing. Well done so far in your recovery.

Mike

Hello there all,

Read most of the posts in this thread, and can see my story amongst others.. Been gambling around 4 years if not more now and safe to say I have no savings in my bank account yet (although I have been working for 3 years).. Have a small loan to pay off over the next 10 months but it's not huge amounts to worry about..

It started off at casinos, then I ended up excluding myself from it to stop.. However, I started going to local bookmakers and was losing a lot..went away on holiday over xmas and came back to promise myself I will make 100 quid a day and stop which over a month was meant to add up to a decent figure.. I was going well, made 1.3k in 13 days but yesterday lost it all, plus what I had left in my account.. My family and girlfriend already helped me out about a 18 months ago in stopping and getting me out of a debt, and now I have no face to tell them anything.. Although I thought it would be a good idea to tell my girlfriend as I think she can help.. My biggest worry is when I apply for a mortgage these days are going to get me back.. I have checked my credit score last week which was given 9 positives and no negatives (with a rating of 'soaring high') but I am sure a closer look on my bank statements the landers will not be happy.. Has anyone had any experience with this? Shall I close my current one to open a new one or anything along those lines?

I am also considering the professional councelling sessions after having a chat with a rep on the live chat box, and reading the forums.. I am very glad to see that people can actually stop and go gambling free for a while hats off to you all! You now have a new joiner in the challenge and I hope I will be with you the whole journey!

Gamble free for a few hours, but start of many!

Best wishes

A
