Hi Everyone, Ive posted on this site now and again, all the usual im going to stop blah blah, yet here i am again, still gambling!
Roulette is my poison, geez im so addicted to this game, how did this happen?? It's online roulette i play, ive had a few wins, my biggest was in excess of 10k, Im sure it was that big win that ruined me!! after that win i payed off all my gambling debts, got myself straight, only to go back down the path of destruction, so skip a few months, the debt mounts up again, i get lucky once again (this luck doesn't come without heart ache and pain and so much bloody stress) so pay the debts off again, fresh start i tell myself! yeah right, that never happened, i was back at it again, lumping big amounts of cash on the hope that my number would come in. So i went from being debt free to now having 6,500 worth of gambling debt, i couldn't sleep, because all i could think about was how im going to pay this money back, planned to work loads of overtime to get myself straight. Anyway.....the thought of those losses where driving me mad, 1 last deposit i told myself, then that is it, im done (ummmm). Well for the 3rd time now in a matter of months i kinda got lucky again! Im not debt free from my latest win but i have 2 options....
Have 6,500 worth of debt around my neck plus god knows how much more if i carry on!
Or, I could use the money to pay off some of the debt, and be left with 2,500 worth of debt, as long as i stop NOW. I do want to stop and i know deep down i will never win because when i do, i always want more, and usually then, my account balance ends up at zero!!
Thanks for reading
Hi mylife,
Well, you don't actually ask for advice in your post, but here's some anyway for what it's worth. If you're gambling online and wanting to quit, why not take some of the money you've currently got and first download blocking software, like Gamblock or Betfilter? Those prevent any gambling sites from opening on your computer, and a lot of people find them to be good protection. If you're gambling on your phone, they may also work there depending on the type of phone you have, or you may have to cut off internet access on it, as some folks have to do, or even downgrade from a smartphone altogether. Try to limit the ways you can damage yourself.
Additionally, what about individual counselling? That could help you sort out why you continue to gamble like this, and help you work on ways to manage your urges better and do healthier things for yourself. Counselling is a great way to get support while you're trying to change things in your life, and we could point you in the direction for that if you're interested.
If you have a chance to pay off some of your debt at this point, I recommend you take it. You already know what's going to happen to that money if it hangs around, so why not put it towards something useful? You've got some good insight into how gambling isn't working for you, now you've just got to be a bit more proactive if you're truly wanting to change.
If you'd like to talk with us about any of this, we'd be happy to speak with you on either the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline from 8am to midnight every day.
Hope this helps,
Travis

Sad the online roulette got you I have ruined my life through it I have done the proper casino , bookies FOBt roulette machines and the worsed option online which they can get in to your home !
You can get the money back by not gambling if you stop now and accept that what you have is enough you don't need anymore so you don't need to GAMBLE anymore !
If you Gamble you will end up stressed and broke possibly like me end up losing out on relationships etc .... and end up living in a pokey flat although I have given up for four months at the age of 51 if I was happy with what I had when I was younger I would of been happier and perhaps live longer and get those losses back I talked about earlier
