Hey guys,

Enjoying following the challenge and rooting for you all, I myself was lucky enought to break my habit via subscription to GAMSTOP earlier in the year as online was my thing. Keep on keeping on!

Dear Stew,

0800 294 2060 is the number you need to call to get self excluded from betting shops. You will have to complete a form and provide 2 recent ID photos. When you call their line the operator will explain the process. It might be useful to make a list of all the shops you want to be excluded in your local area. Over time you can add more shops

Best wishes

Hi K2, Lando, Simon and Admin.

thank you very much for your replies. As I was new on here I didn't think you'd replied and then I've just clicked onto my thread and there it was!! Much appreciated lads. Thanks for having me!

I couldn't agree more K2 re self exclusion from bookies as now GAMSTOP is in place and working perfectly I know I would be tempted in which would be a disaster however, now I'm communicating with you I feel stronger already. Enough about me as You say Lando let's head for Christmas. Thanks once again.

You're doing so well with your number of GF days, it's a great achievement. I have something to follow. Even 8 days for me is quite an achievement!! I'm sure we can all keep going and like you K2 I'm in my 50's but it's never too late!

Thanks again for welcoming me

cheers Stew

Please remember to keep working at recovery beyond 90 days. Things do change and it does get easier, but there will be times when the urges come back and if you aren't prepared for them, you can very quickly find yourself gambling again. I don't want that for anyone.

74 days - sticking to the commitment I made not to gamble until (at least) Christmas. This has ensured my kids have had as much as I can afford and haven’t gone without . Very pleased to be still gamble free.

Hi, I just saw this thread and I fit into the challenge with over 30 days at this point. I feel better than I have at the holidays for the last 13 or more years. One xmas , about 5 or 6 years ago , I nearly lost my ability to stay sane and desire to live. It was the worst time of my entire life and I've had bad times since then but none as bad. I found some recovery sites onine 5 or 6 years ago and I also called a hot line. It's been a long journey and it really never stops. Glad to still be on the journey and to be feeling , overall, better than xmas's of the past. tara2
