Hi Chiqy,

He or she may have told you in many years time. If he or she had managed to conquer their addiction.

More likely scenario is the partner finds out anyway due to the financial disaster that inevitably happens or the CG steals from them or they see a bank statement etc.

I suppose what I'm saying is if the CG can get away with it they will not tell the partner. Getting away with it is highly unlikely if they do not find the strength to give up before the relationship is damaged.

I have been a CG and the one thing I was brilliant at was lying to relatives. Deceit is second nature. It comes with the territory I'm afraid.

It's harsh, I know but if the person does not give up then the partner is much better off without them. Fact.

Best Wishes.

If you were all more honest from the get go things wouldn't get so bad for all involved, your lying and deceit makes things a million times worse.

IT'S THE LYING THAT HURTS MOST!!

SO STOP THE LYING FIRST!

Then you might get better. When you lie we can't trust ANYTHING you tell us. Our imagination runs wild and we get scared.

You tell us we're better off without you but you want us to take that responsibility too because you're the ones sneaking about, you won't end it because you really would lose everything then.

Carry on destroying your own lives all you want but stop taking others with you!

Excellent Comments.

The only response I can give is the gamblers who come to this site are looking to turn their lives around. Not just for themselves but for the sake of their families as well. I carry an awful amount of guilt for what has happened in the past. That's why I've done something about it and do not intend to gamble ever again. It's unfortunate your partner has not tried to do something about their problem gambling before things reached such a crisis point.

I wish you well for the future.

Its not a black and white answer. Yes I told my family eventually and I agree with most of what you say. There's lots of situations were telling the truth and being up front may help but can you say everyone always does?
