i am addicted to poker, have been for 10 years or so. ive been gambling for 17 years on pretty much everything, i used to have a real problem with FOBTs but now i just play poker mainly. i vowed to quit on new years eve but have lost £1000+ in the last 24hrs. im addicted to the rush of playing plo cash games where 100s of pounds can change hands in seconds, i always go bust in the end but it gives me a massive rush. Im in no debt but i have been in the past, was in 17k debt at 21 years old. i just cant do i t anymore. i have an understanding partner and 2 gorgeous children im risking losing it all if i continue for the rush of the turn of a virtual card,

so from this day onwards i vow to be clean.

thanks for reading !

And how is it going? I think the thing to remember is that we can't gamble at all, even when we think we're cured! I wish you success and hope you can do this for yourself as well as your family xx

Hi johnlostmydo

Youve admitted a problem which is a great step. People here can help you.

Do you have plans on talking to anyone close or putting the blocks in place? Im going to be blunt..... £1000 in the last day is heavy gambling and you will end up in serious debt and with family problems if it continues.

Gambling ruins people and yes you may lose it all if you dont stop this right now

Dont wait like I did. Self exclude and then you cant do it again there. Finish it now. Walk in with pride and say you dont want to and must not be allowed to gamble any more. Hand over control of your money while you prove yourself and get your mind clear.

I have to say now that your will power alone will not be enough. If you are ready you will do what is right.

A one to one call with gamcare and some counselling would be a great step.

Keep reading the forum, tell us your thoughts and how you are getting on.

All the best
