Hi all,
As much out of curioisty as anything else I wondered how many people on here work within the gambling industry?. I have had bad gambling problems in the past and luckily after good help generally things are better now. I have had my slip-ups and even one fairly recently where I tried financial markets spread betting making myself believe they weren't betting like I did on sports. Of course it was just me trying to convince myself and it ended badly. But as I say generally it does not cause me too many problems now which I am so happy about.
I have for over 20 years worked in some form or another in the industry itself. I work for an online bookmaker currently. I don't think this helps with possible temptation being around it and people talking about it etc at work. But at the same time I can also feel guilty too working on that side of it. Am I being hypocritical maintaining a job in that field, I don't know. Of course though I need a job (more than ever just at the moment) and moving to different industries has proved problematic. And of course, when my gambling was at its worse and debt was a huge issue I needed a job and regular pay.
I just wondered if any other forum users also worked within the industry and their thoughts about it. I have tried to think about alternate careers and had the odd interview and failed. It is not easy.
Take care everyone.
