Hi All,

Been a while since I last wrote anything!

As i've lived in the Middle East for a while gambling had been something I had managed to avoid by default. However recently aquiring a VPN (initially for UK TV) I have started to gamble on the old sites I used to love and loath. After an initial BIG win I proceeded to give it all back and then a few more thousand after. Sitting looking at myself right now i'm trying to understand why I gamble; am I hiding from something, am i unsatisfied in my life? In answer to this question i'm not, so why do I gamble, this is the million dollar question? I can only draw the conclusion that I enjoy it. I find it challenging and a bit of a David and Goliath trying to to take on the casinos. I appreciate that this is a mad way to look at this as gambling is set up for the house to win but I wanted to have a bit of a brain dump and see if this was just me or if other people just simply enjoy gambling!?

As a compulsive gambler I think one does get a buzz" riding the tiger!". I think that unless one can be disciplined gambling is a no no......Lets say if you had a bank account that pays 10% interest you would stash your money in it.But if you started with A £100 bank at the casino would you stop when you reached£110 which is the same thing.I guess most of us would not.I had a system but would not stick to it.My first day I think I was £200 .up I should have gone home and left it for the the week, did I no returned later and blew it.I suppose if you have a pension / investment account you are gambling with stocks and shares .I am not encouraging gambling unless you mean one lottery ticket a week which I still do.I suppose if you spent£20 a week on f**s and you gave up would you save or gamble. For compulsive gamblers I guess it's a no no.I guess most of us are compulsive.I expect I will get slagged off know.

i thought i could but i learnt i couldn't

i''m an all or nothing non gambler. no lottery, premium bonds, free bets, quiz shows or any of what some may call soft gambling. Nothing soft about it for me

I loved gambling on horses. The highs were fantastic but I couldn't take the lows. CG's are never satisfied and very greedy. I could never win enough so I end up losing and then some. It's mentally draining in the end. Best left alone entirely. The urges have started to subside greatly now. Visiting this Forum and commenting plus the 2015 Challenge helps keep me "clean".

Stay focused everyone.

Thanks for the comments.

MrStop whats the 2015 challenge?

Yep I agree with the other comments I suppose the fact im on a site like this may suggest in the past I have allowed myself to be consumed gambling. For me the rush of hitting a blackjack or a number on the roulette wheel are certainly a buzz that I keep wanting more of and to get that same high ias before t typically means a larger wager!

Im currently typing this having logged on to my laptop to gamble my wife left early this morning to go to work this I feel is a slippery slope!

Hi lost££££,

The aim is to go right through 2015 without gambling. If you go to the thread on this section and read the first page on 2015 Challenge it gives details.

Cheers.
