January this year I stopped online gambling after losing everything but now the urge has got to me and been going to the bookies lost about 600 pounds today I could have walked away with 500 after putting about 600 in but went on a different machine and lost it all but I just want to say I've learnt my lesson and I'm stopping it all now before it's to late need to get my life back on track I'm still financially okay just need to keep it that wayÂ
Good for you and you can do it, you say your financially okay that is the main thing and your not in debt. Have you lost much over years have you spoken to anyone. I really think thats the hardest part actually telling someone. At least here you can get some stuff off your chest.Â

I thought the government had forced the bookies to reduce the stakes on these machines to stop these kind of ridiculous losses ?
Â
How are you still able to lose £600 on a machine it makes no senseÂ
Â
Â
@givemethebuzz it makes perfect sense. £2 a press, each press takes seconds now. It would be very easy to spend £10 a minute. Play for an hour and that’s your £600.
All the bookies did was find a loophole around the new rules.Â
Don’t forget that compulsive gambling doesn’t mean popping in for 10 mins, it might start like that but once the gambler is gambling all time and ideology goes out of the window.
Chris.Â
You can Lose any amount , keep awaY from it my friend .
@mast2021 hi thanks for the advice yes in the last few years I have lost alot just need to forget about it and move onÂ
Thanks for the advice everyone yes it is easily lost just more disappointed in myself that I let it happen again but I get a decent wage Friday just need to forget gambling and start saving
@markus6789 Can you do something different to help yourself? If you just wait until payday and rely on willpower there’s a hood chance you’ll do the same.Â
To paraphrase. if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.
Can you install a block? Can you put a block on your bank account? Can you give over any access to money? Can you call one of the gamcare advisers and talk to someone? Can you go to a GA meeting?
What can you do?
Chris.
@chris-uk hi at the minute not sure what to do I've the last 3 years of my life has been a nightmare never used to gamble on any slots literally just use to do irish lottery every Wednesday day and Saturday 40 pounds a week and I won xxxxx in the space of 3 month but I share with my dad so I gave him half then a lad at work told me about slots and been hooked on them since wish I ignored him or would have rather left work than go through this I will get help thanks for the adviceÂ
@markus6789 you never used to do it but now you do. Clearly you have a gambling problem and I don’t think it helps or matters why you do it. It’s just about accepting it and realising that you can do it but with actions. Make a change. Go on, do something before Friday and come on here and tell us what you’ve done.Â
You can do it.
Chris
I was led to believe there was way way tighter spending and deposit limits on them machines now
Either the bookies aren't doing what they are supposed to be or the government have sold us a pack of lies ....yet againÂ
Â
