Great post from Rusty:Hello and welcome to the forum, can i make the following suggestions for you??
1. Close all on line accounts.
have your self excluded from the online casinos, and ignore all bonuses that they want to send you
2. Really good move is to block your sites, and prolly install specific non-gambling software A good example for you to have a look at is gamblock
Cyber patrol and net nanny also get good write ups
3) Have someone close to you and someone that you trust take control of your money and credit cards.
No access to cash = no gambling
4. Contact the helpline: 0845 6000 133 and talk to them about how you want to give up gambling, and talk with them about how you might put in place as many barriers between you and your gambling sites.
Alternatively, contact netline available between the hours of 10am and 7pm Monday - Friday and is staffed by a team of GamCare advisors with a broad and significant experience in the provision of advice, information and support to people affected by gambling problems.
To access the Netline follow this link http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/
5 Keep talking even if your having "one of those days" Come here to get things of your chest. Posting your thoughts is very therapeutic.
6. Think about contacting a counsellor. The chaps on the helpline maybe able to put you in touch with someone in your area. If you cant do that, then online counselling may be a possibility for you. you can organise that through Gordon House Association http://www.gordonhouse.org.uk/ , you might even be able to organise online counselling at Gamcare, why not speak to the advisors about it?
7. Make use of the support groups offered. Details can be had on the sticky at the top of the page. These groups offer you the opportunity to speak to like minded people in real time, and give you a chance to talk about the things that are troubling you
8. Believe in yourself
'Only you have the power within you.
Just believe in yourself -
The sea will part before you,
Stop the rain, turn the tide.
If only you use the power within you
Needn't beg the world
To turn around and help you
If you draw on what you have within you
Somewhere deep inside.'

Thats a great post above that Michelle has highlighted from James P.
It backs up what I feel about playing for the thrill of the chase or expectation. It wasnt all a thrill as it soon turned into a trance of cold sweats and desperation. It was actually more a desperation to keep having the money as tokens to keep playing. When my money was running out I would not be able to play anymore. I realise now that was more a driving factor than winning money to spend on other things.
I would experience mood swings even on the extremely rare occasion I did leave with something. Later in the evening or early the next day I would feel down and empty as if gambling was the only thing I wanted to do again
Only was when my pockets were empty and the bank account drained, normal thoughts started returning like the blood flowing into a numb arm. As my mind corrected I realised I was in real financial trouble
When playing I physically couldnt leave a machine..some thoughts of I must go now crept in but I couldnt leave. Only a short trip to a service till would break the flow but I was fixated on returning with more cash.
There are action gamblers and escape gamblers but both are addicted to the action and/or escape in varying degrees.
Im calmer now but I had to replace it with a renewed interest in computer games and other interests. A lot of what we do is for some escape but I dont binge my money away now. I go to the gym now to counter the effects of some comfort eating and drinking. Im not saying that every gamble free day is euphoria but Im certainly in a much better place now and I like the feeling of being in control.
Best wishes to everyone on the forum

A new week has arrived. Seven gamble free days for me to work on my recovery. Here's a silly verse I once posted on a other thread:
Monday's child keeps off the slots and doesn't have a bet
Tuesday's child has realised it doesn't do to fret
Wednesday's child stays off the fobts and takes the spouse to dinner
Thursday's child is gamble free so surely is a winner
Friday's child avoids the dogs and galloping horses too
Saturday's child with family enjoys a treat or two
And the child that's born on sabbath day can laugh, dance and sing, regardless of the challenges that life can sometimes bring
