My current Gamblock licence expired and I wont leave my PC without protection. Ive used Gamblock and Betfilter before and both work well but I find them expensive to renew each year. I saw a link for a free version of Betfilter but it turned out it was via an online casino that doesnt have the offer any more.

However, they did have a link to Gamban. I had a good look at the website and Ive downloaded it and it works as expected so thought I'd share. It was free and it says it doesnt expire. Only had it on a couple of days but seems to only block actual sites where you can pay to gamble rather than Gamblock which used to shut down anything with adverts / any mention of gambling. So far so good

Hi John Miles, I have flagged your post as abusive as people here don't need advice like that!

If you need help, which it sounds like you do, please edit what you have written or better still, start your own thread. Barriers are only one step in beating addiction...If your gambling is done online, you may want to consider a new card & getting the CVV number scratched off or even, downgrade your bank account as well as using blocking software. If we want to gamble desperately enough, we will find a way but it is possible to change our mind set with the right support be that through counselling (GP or GamCare can help) or GA or both.

You can stop this madness - ODAAT

I was given a promocode for betfilter by the counselling service accessed via gamcare, but not sure if I am allowed to post it publically, so will let you know after my next appointment. I have n't tried it as I went with K9 which was free.

Hi panders

We do have a limited number of promo codes to offer but they are only for GamCare counselling clients, so that we can follow up with you on your experiences of the software, so please don't share it here.

If anyone is interested in GamCare counselling give us a call on the Helpline, 0808 8020 133.

Best wishes

I've had a look at gamban - I suppose the only question I have, and I doubt if anyone here has the answer - is that it only gives you a licence for a year, and you can only use it (according to their EULA) on one device. Most people will have more than one device, and at the end of that licence, there is nothing stopping them from effectively using it as ransomware to force people to pay a ridiculously high subscription fee, or block access to their computer, as their EULA also says the user indemnifies the company for not removing the software. It just makes me a little twitchy
