Hi All,

So I singed up to Gamcare back around May/June time I think and it was the best thing I ever did. Stopped me gambling, I did at first try to find ways around it but everything was blocked so knew it worked. My reasoning for doing it was becasue in the space of 14 days I went from having 2 4 , 0 0 0 in my bank from winnings to being down 4 7 , 0 0 0.

I had hit rock bottom, I had never felt so sick in all my life (I am slowly paying my way out of that but will be for many many years ahead but luckily it isn't on my credit report so won't affect that) but since Gamstop I have never once thought about gambling anymore and it has been amazing to have my life back.

If no one has signed up to it I really suggest you do as it really helps.

Reason for coming on here though today, and if you see my profile you will see I am gamble free from today instead of May/June, and that is becasue I found a way round it, which I won't share, and it was a stupid idea. I only lost 2 0 0, which is still a lot but lucikly over these months of not gambling I have built up savings which I have never had, and I am currently 24, working for 8 years! so having those savings is a luxury for me now and I love saving money more than ever now. Seeing that balance build up makes me feel so good.

But yes, I am here as it is obvious I still have a gambling issue to go to length I did to deposit 2 0 0 after like 6 months of no gambling.

Hi DW,

Thank you for sharing your experience here.

Stopping tends to be a process, not something you do from one day to the next and often there are set backs. This can be disheartening but it is part of the learning journey you are on. Maybe this would be a good time to think about other blockers you can put into place for moments like the one you described. When you went to great length in order to deposit 200 after 6 months gamble free.

You can always contact us directly to talk this through on the HelpLine on 80 20 133 or on the NetLine here https://www.gamcare.org.uk/frontline-services/netline

Both services are open from 8 am to midnight every day.

Keep going, DW!

Kind wishes

Gabriele

Hi,

Yes stopping is hard and the urge to gamble was never there for the 6 months I had stopped. But one day I just spent hours trying whatever I could to gamble, once I lost the 200 the urge was gone and haven't had it since.

I'm sure this will come and go over time, but I am confident I can stop for good now mainly becuase I am looking to get a house so I have something to aim for

I signed up earlier this week and dont regret it one bit. While it was a regression back to slots that gave me the kick to do it I would bet far too much online on any sport I could watch, particularly at weekends.

For a long time I knew I shouldn’t be gambling but now signed up to Gamstop I have had to accept I can’t.
