I think the RTP is very deceptive. I don't belive for a minute that the online sites operate and profit on just 4 to 5% of customers deposits. I just have trouble stoping until I have 'won' back the money I have deposited that day. I usually only bet £1 on slots and that gives a max jackpot of £500 but there have been times I have bet twice that in a ridiculous effort to win it back. Whether or not I kept betting the money over and over and the site keeps taking 5% I can't be sure but in recent months my deposits were pretty much depleted first time round and very quickly. I know I have to accept that all of the money is gone and that if I continue to chase it I will only add to debts and upset family but it's hard to walk away accepting such a loss.

I have just read your profile and it seems we are having a very similar experience. My first bet was May/June last year and I keep relapsing at a similar rate. I need to change my profile back to 1 day gamble free to. I'm 38 and it's going to take 3 years at least to recover from losses. I must stop it now. Could I please ask how much you have lost in total? Please don't answer if you don't wish to. I think I have lost 6 to 8k but it's hard to be precise. I only know what my debts are but I know I spent slot more in actuality. I wish you well and if you want to chat on here it would be great

Hi, I'm not sure if there is another way to chat but I'll take a look this evening. You are not alone, I can see im not by reading the posts on here but it's a very isolating problem to have and one I would loath to admit to friends. It's my losses that have kept me trying again, as I mentioned if I ws granted a sum to clear them im fairly sure I would not gamble again as the actual action of it lost its appeal a long time ago. I'm going to reset my nber if days not gambled to 2 and take it from here. If I resolve to never do it again I can just about claw myself back but any further and I'll cause real harm that I might not recober from. Hope to chat soon.

Hi, I had assumed that exchanging contact numbers would not be allowed but that's seemingly not the case ( I checked the forum rules), so if you want to text or perhaps speak at some point my number is 07477 255520. It would be good to speak with someone who has had such a similar experience and perhaps we can give each other the encouragement to finally call time on this destructive compulsion altogether.

Hi, yes it's ok about my number, I can remove it easily and im not too concerned about a random odd call or text. I'm not really sure what a gmail ID or Google hangout is but I'll give it a go. I just find text easier which is why I added my number. If just would be good to chat things through with someone who has been dealing with similar issues. It's been like the twilight zone at times, trying to project an air of normality around friends and family whilst my bank account is being regularly drained and thd inevitable panic when the bills need paying and everyday things are needed. If you can give an idea how to chat that would be great. For now I'll wish you a peaceful evening and a gamble free day tomorrow

Just reading through their thread and as compulsive gamblers we all have the same problem. We simply don't know when to stop and never will. Steffi please don't convince yourself that covering your debt will stop the problem and stop your need to gamble. I have been where you are and beleive me that mind set is wrong and doesn't work!. You will continue to gamble and get in more debt. If your miracle comes and you are finally debt free u simply forget the stress of all this. You forget the destruction gambling caused you and you start again. You finally get to the point where you CANT get credit and therefore more debt. You CANT borrow off family and friends and you continue to gamble with the money you do have praying for that win. You leave yourself with nothing and no lifeline and you convince yourself that as you can't get credit or money from elsewhere that gambling is our only hope. Please listen and realise that clearing your debt is not the problem. It's an excuse. Stop the gambling and make an affordable payment plan with your creditors. Get blocks put in place so that you can't gamble and focus on your future not your past. I have gambled for over 14 hrs now. I'm been at rock bottom more than once and I'm back here after all be it a minor set back its a set back all the same. We will never be "cured" as gamblers but we can learn other ways of controlling it and moving on. I wish everyone all the best and hope for the future X
