I am back after a few months off the wagon. Unfortunately I can't seem to stop gambling for any length of time. Please offer any advise. How to I exclude myself from betting shops. Thank you

Hi Moomoo41

Welcome back to the forum.

You can find information on how to self exclude yourself from betting shops on our website under Support and Counselling

Remember if you self-exclude from betting shops its a great stepping stone. But they don't always implement it. Theres a seperate scheme for bingo sites and arcades so ensure you do it all if needed!

I found recently useful ways of limiting the damage. One example I snapped the chip in my cashcard so i can only withdraw from a bank cashier during daytime hours. Sure its inconvieniet but at least theres a chance theres some money there the next day! It means I can't keep going back to the cashmachine - I have to look someone in the eye.

I think the more friends and family you confess to..the more you give up the opportunity to gamble in the future.. the better it gets. Also spend more time on here. Note the hours of the chatroom and come regularly and there you get great advice and support. See you there

Well mate, I have used this forum and chat rooms now for nearly 3 years, it's good to talk, I am now 1 year 10 months approx free of all gambling, I started by trying to self exclude my self from these shops buy I found they were always to easy to let me back in, the way I got round it was tell my parents and partner of my problem and then they would notice and ask more often where I was and what o am at! I went to a counselled for a 12week period which helped me alot, hope you can resolve your addiction pal and remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel!
