Morning
I don't intend on excusing my behaviour or making excuses I am a problem gambler. Recently I hard stopped after a suggestion from a councilling service. I stopped but about 2 months in I became unwell and my OCD felt like it went into overdrive.
Anyway I seeked advice from the doctor who gave me Sertraline 50mg also known as Zoloft. Although he warned it does make you very impulsive. So before taking these tablets I had obsessive thoughts about my wife leaving me and then began questioning other things. This subsided as the tablets begin to work.
But then that openned me up to wanting to gamble again, which I started doing and its worse this time as im having no thought about the money I chuck in, no thoughts about being sensible its all thoughts you'll win big and you'll be financially ok.
I wanted to know if anyone else has suffered similar off of Zoloft/Sertraline. I really am in a mess at the moment.
I was on citlopram, which worked for a bit, but came off them due to side effects and joint pain
These tablets have just made me MAJORLY impulsive. I've never wanted to gamble so bad.
How do you know for certain it is the tablets causing this desire to gamble? All medications come with potential side effects which is why most have a leaflet inside explaining this.

Yeah I'd be asking myself the question Phil has mentioned above.
Don't let what the doctor said play on your mind about the medication making you implusive, this could he adding to the urges your having.
All the best
Conradnose
There are a lot of case studies that show dopamine agonists ( which many anti depressants are) cause an increase in impulsive behaviours, gambling & P*********y being the two most common
Oh for goodness sake how is P orn ography an offensive word
