Hi I'm new to the forum. I've just started counselling for my problem gambling. I'm scared. I don't see any kind of future at the moment, I'm gambling away all my money, and I got myself into a lot of debt with it too. I'm hoping to find some support of people like you guys who understand and offer support myself. Luckily I have a great partner who supports me, but I'm scared I'll drive him away. Want to stop it so much, but don't know how. Love to all xx
Hi, I am new to this as well day 8 of being gamble free, we can do this, hope the counselling helps and you do have a future, a happy gamble free one.
Thanks 🙂 your kind words mean so much xx
Hi I am new to this also and this is day 1 of being gamble free like yourself I am in a lot of debt due to this. I am also looking into getting conselling, I hope you get the help you need and can overcome this awful addiction
Hi I'm new to this but need something to help me stop this addiction hoping that I can say this is day 1 of many days to come
Hi everyone,
I've gotten to 201 days "clean" with the help of this forum. It's not a boast. I mention it to give encouragement to others.
If I can get as far as this you people can.
You need to put strong measures in place to prevent yourselves from gambling.
Online blocks/self exclusion/limit access to funds/counselling etc.
Once the gamble free days mount up you will gain more confidence. Best of all is peace of mind. I got into a hell of a mess and now have payment arrangements in place with my creditors. I still get urges but I can't do anything about them because of the prevention measures I have in place.
Biggest thing as far as I was concerned was letting go of past monetary losses.I've managed to do that and it's half the battle won.
When you start to chase losses it's the road to ruin. Even when you get on a winning streak it's never enough to satisfy the greed for more. The whole nasty, vicious losing circle starts again.
Always remember, whenever some extremely lucky big winner is announced in the media the win is paid for by thousands, if not millions of long term and heavy losers. That's what I was a big loser.
Lots of great advice from many people on this forum.
Keep Reading and Keep Strong.
Best Wishes.
Thanks MrStop for your encouraging words to us at the start of our gamble free journey and well done to you, I am now on day 10 and am feeling really determined but not going to get complacent, I keep reminding myself of that awful sick dread feeling when all rationalisation went out of the window and you have spent bill money, mortgage money etc on losing money and then chasing losses, well it's not going to happen anymore! I am a winner because I am not gambling
