I have been a problem gambler for most of my life. However, recently i have been writing a personal diary to make a note of my thoughts and emotions.

This new approach to dealing with the problem has made a huge difference in my life. My decision to write these diary entries is allowing me vent all of my frustrations, it is making me stronger and tomorrow is a day off, so i hope to stay clear of gambling, i am just over 3 weeks clear and have not gambled so far this year, yes its early days but the diary approach is working so far.

Good job, Paul. A personal/recovery diary is great tool in conquering this, as I only know too well myself. I've been gamble free for a few weeks now, but for most of the last year, despite 2 slips, I've been gamble free. A diary really made a difference to me, so it's good to read others who've found them useful.

Well done on your three weeks, Paul.

Anybody reading who hasn't started a diary should try it. 😉

Well done Alex, it sounds like your getting everything in order. You are only human, a few slip ups are to be expected. Honestly, a diary is great and i even used it as inspiration to not go into town today, as i usually end up there iwhen im bored, which usually leads to a bet and loss of a few hundred pounds.

Its a new year, i have big plans to save cash and use it to buy my own place. Its a strange time for me, split with girlfriend and having to move out. I am trying to connect with people more, gambling is a lonely addiction, so its important to be around people that do not gamble.

Small steps lead to big progress ...
