Well...gambling has ruined my life multiple times and brought me to below rock bottom and near suicide. I don't bet on anything other than slot machines...I have no desire to gamble yet I do it. I'm a very intelligent man and I just don't get it. I neither enjoy it nor want to play them yet I do. I don't drink, don't smoke, never done drugs...so why has this become an unwarranted addiction?
I'm posting here not for sympathy or support but to tell other people which will hopefully shame me and trigger something in my brain to cease. I'm just taking things day by day and I'm determined to not gamble tomorrow more than anything in the world. I've self barred myself from every online bookmaker I can think of...self barring from bookies doesn't work. I have a ban from every bookmaker yet still I regularly go in and gamble...they don't care a jot. I have the starting of a good life again and I'm determined to make sure slot machines don't ruin it. It's going to be nigh on impossible but I've achieved the impossible before so here goes. Wish me luck...this time it's game on (or game off as it were). I'm looking forward to it...thanks for reading and hopefully, after a 30 year addiction, it stops today.

Dear Makeitstop,

sorry to hear your gambling problem has been making you feel like you are below rock bottom and near suicidal. This is the right place for you, and although you say you didn't post for support, do take it when it is offered. Recovery is often easier if you are not alone.

Please also call our Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or the Netline here for some 1-2-1 advice and support. The adviser will also be able to look at arranging 1-2-1 treatment support if you are interested.

Please keep sharing and posting, a lot of users find a recovery diary a good way to keep the focus and the momentum going.

Wishing you all the very best,

Eva

Try getting someone to control your money, it’s one of a few ways to help, no money no gambling.
