Last night I told my wife for the first time the extent of my gambling. I had never gambled large amounts of money, but I’ve been a problem gambler for the last 10 years due to the amount of time and energy spent on it.

I've always told myself that I’m disciplined and wouldn’t let gambling get out of hand, but in 3 days over Christmas I lost more than I had probably lost on the past 2 or 3 years combined! I felt guilty and knew I had to stop.

I have registered with GamStop and installed GamBan, but the best thing I ever did was be honest with my wife at the first sign that my gambling was really out of control.

Don’t let your pride tell you that you need to win back your losses before you confide in others about your problem. Otherwise, when you finally do tell someone it will just be worse!

I was so scared to tell her, but my wife has been more supportive than I could ever have imagined. Tell your loved ones, they will help you!

Hi, well done for having the guts to tell your wife, I didn't and eventually she found out. The fallout was terrible but she has been so supportive and I am now nearly 7 months gamble free.

Good luck with your recovery

You've done really well. I didn't tell the love of my life and when she found out, I had to go. She was disgusted and there is no going back for me. It will hurt forever. I'm so glad you told her and she's supportive of you.
