I self excluded from one site and managed to not gamble for a whole week.
I then joined their sister site and was allowed to gamble away. I finally self excluded but where is the duty of care?
My gambling is erratic and clearly problem gambling. They are exactly the same site, apart from the name.
Do i have a point to expect an apology/refund and have a case against them?
I know other sites are owned by the same company but are vastly different.
These two are exactly the same!
I've had a similar thing. Unfortunately, when you exclude from one, the wording says something like "we will also endeavour to exclude you from X, and Y, our sister sites" .... the word "endeavour" legally gets them out of actually having to do it. I'm currently in the middle of taking an online site to the ombudsman (on a number of grounds around duty of care, responsible gambling etc) ... I'm mainly just trying to highlight what they are up to, as legally don't expect to get anything back .... unfortunately they all have small print in the terms & conditions to get them out of most things ... I had a withdrawal that was supposed to take 2 days, and it took 4 weeks to get it ... again it said "we will do our best to pay within 2 working days, but on occasions this might be longer". I'm trying to focus on quitting the gambling, rather than bookies being unfair ... of course they are, but we know that and we still gamble. Sorry to give you the bad news, but good luck in quitting, if that's what you want to do. Rich
A lot of sites are basically the same apart from the logo. You need to focus on recovery and forget about what you have lost. Even if they were to give you back what you spent, it won’t be long before you hand it over to another site. You obviously know you have a problem, what steps have taken to get help?
Thanks guys. I am now 24 hours free.
Unfortunately I am screwed money wise. I have payday loans that I can't afford to pay off.... a credit card thats rinsing me. A credit rating through the floor.
Don't know what to do.
I know I have to ask nicely to the current loans if they can give me some slack but they're all brand new. 🙁
My mum paid off all my payday loans 3 months ago and I f****d up yet again..........
Can't bare to tell her I f****d up again...... especially as we just lost her dad. 🙁
Really low right now.
Did you visit the debt camel site, a lot of people in GA with big debts found help there. But you should still come clean to your Mum if you really want to get help, and you need help with your gambling addiction as that is whats led you here and it will do again and again unless you face up to it. Your Mum would actually be relieved if she knew you were really tackling the issue.
Hello LondonLoser
If you haven't already, it could help you to contact the debt helplines listed here:
http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/finance-and-debt-management
They can help you get payment plans in place. Borrowing money from your Mum has not helped you stop so far.
Please also feel free to contact us on the HelpLine 0808 8020 133 or chat to us on the NetLine to help you tackle the gambling itself.
Best wishes
