It was always on my mind, building a box to beat the urge of gambling

Hi everyone, on my way to the casino I always thought...besides the winning it big or wow dreams, for a fraction of a second that is, a reason of not going and not losing it all again and again, starve, not pay bills, not have a penny in my pocket for a long time, make others suffer, something that can really prevent me of going to the casino. So I always stoped to eat, buy things I needed, just to delay the trip but it hasnt worked so well many times because the money was still in my hand. So I was thinking if we can create a strong box of some sort, that you can put money in, all money that is available for gambling, including credit cards and debit cards, but can't take out for 24hours or for as long as you set it - the longer the better! - just like you would lose it all to the casino! and wont access it for another week to learn a lesson! that would be amazing and a great idea! Because we all have that fear of not losing our money and that is when it's the right time to place it in! If you ever feel like gambling, even if its smaller amounts, by throwing it in the box and forgeting about it, just like you would lose at the casino! You would have lots of savings later in a year! Let me know what I think, I am willing to build one myself! It would be set as a dinning room table stand where everyone can see if you are planning on chaning the rules and pretty hard to manipulate.

Hi vs2015!

You make a good point about locking temptation away. Actually there do seem to be various 'time locked safes' on the market to help people with addictions. It would be interesting to hear if anyone on the forum has tried one.

It's a good practical idea. You might pay a lot for a time locked safe but think how much you could save.
