Today another 1000 pound of my hard earnt money gone. I gamble once or twice a month now with a average loss of 1500 the dealer said you have 0 luck you haven't won any hands. Everytime I play nowdays I loose every single hand. I am broken. Before I gamble I feel this horrible feeling dragging me there and I have no choice but to obey it.

I have been to

-GA group and 121

-Gordon moody

Im on GameStop but use sites which are not registered

I just applied for sense just now

Literally have no idea what to do  feel absolutely defeated been on this site for 6 years now and it's the same story. All my money I have ever earnt apart from food and rent has gone to the industry I have absolutely nothing.

You can’t control it, you have to want to stop completely not if’s or buts. I just did 115 days gamble free only to return quicker than before and I lost a lot less this time.

hopefully I can go for longer this time and I hope you try to stop completely

Just a word of encouragement to anyone who Relapses.  Please do not be discouraged and don't give up on Recovery.  Relapse happens when complacency creeps in, along with not fully accepting powerlessness. Remember problem gambling is cunning, powerful and baffling and without help it is too much.

However, there is a way forward and there are many who are living gamble free and moving on in their lives.  Noone is a hopeless case.  Believe in yourself, keep reaching out, challenge your 'thinking' as this is where problem gambling takes place, take it One Day At A Time and remember you are not alone.....

Your story rings such similar bells with mine. Only now I’ve started using bill and food money. It can’t get any worse for me right now.
I don’t know what to do. Tried Gamstop but play international sites where you don’t even know if you will get any money back.

Its a never ending journey of work nothing to show self hate self pity.

like yourself I have been on here so many years but I still fail:

but maybe this time: maybe we can do it and get the help we need.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties. Gambling addiction is one hell of a beast, and it requires a lot of effort and ingenuity to beat.

As someone who has been on the recovery journey for quite awhile now and who has had some success, I want you to know that the key to beating gambling is having in place effective barriers between you and gambling, so that even when you get an irresistible urge to gamble, the barriers are there to stop you from acting on your urge. Importantly, never rely on willpower alone. It will just lead to relapse after relapse.

Speaking of barriers, if you gamble online, I highly encourage you to contact all the services that enable you to deposit money into online casinos and request that they permanently ban you from their services. This is a super effective barrier to put in place to prevent future relapses. Online casinos are infinite, but the deposit enablers are just a handful. Doing this has really helped me (I’m now 2 years gamble-free).

Email template you can use:

Subject heading: Request for permanent account ban.

Hi there,

Please immediately and permanently ban me from using your services. I have been using your services in ways that are not good for my wellbeing. I would like that to stop and having my account permanently banned is an essential step. Thank you for taking my well-being seriously and doing as I have requested.

My information is as follows: [insert the relevant info such as account name or the email you have associated with them or, in the case of ****, the email you use to make **** transfers]

Sincerely,

[Insert your name]

Other effective barriers include:

  1. Self-exclusion from land-based casinos.
  2. Having an accountability partner whose opinion of you you care about. You don’t want to disappoint them, and this acts as an emotional barrier to gambling.
  3. Softwares like Gamban, Coldturkey, Betblocker, ScreenTime on iphone (get someone else to set up a password so you can’t alter the settings once they’re set)
  4. If need be, have a loved one manage your finances for you.

The more barriers, the better. Good luck my friend. You got this.
