Mixer, I am in the usa so the tribal casinos do not offer the full multi destination exclusion... have to be done one by one. I am excluded at 7 within an hour and 1/2. I recented traveled to one that is a 2hour drive away and played then was so exhausted , put all wins and then some back into the machines . I was so exhausted that I was happy that it was still day light and I left without excluding and just drove home. So I am not planning on driving to those further out of the way places. I'll have to exclude if I ever have to drive through the areas they are in for some other reason. I have to self exclude when I travel anywhere new that is near a casino and call ahead of time and not go in by myself. Or I have to have the strength and time in recovery to not go in at all, even without an exclusion. Right now, I am excluded at all the local ones and I will not drive to a casino , out of the way, just for a drive and to self exclude. There are tooooo many places in this state and beyond. Gotta cultivate some recovery here. tara2

Ah.... my apologises Tara; didn’t realise you are from across the pond 🙂 and therefore not so straightforward to ban yourself.

My bad, and It’s clear you’ve got a strategy in place 🙂

No problem mixer. 🙂 I appreciate any and all help and support and YOU give so much. Thank YOU. I've been tripping around and hopefully , by sharing and reflecting I'll be able to see myself and reveal those part of myself that are still not in alignment with full recovery. I hope that my bad choice (s) are like medicine that help me to learn more about how my mind /subconcious tries to keep secrets and keep doors open. How transparent and vulnerable can we be? Really , I don't know. I'm going through the process and learning. I appreciate the hard edged truths about needing blocks of all kinds. tara2

Hallo to all the challengers hope everyone is doing OK tonight.

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather Mixer but well done on cutting down on the demon drink. And a massive congrats on your 300 days!!!

To tell the truth I have been meaning to log on again here for a while, world cup coming up and this used to be my only real world / bookies temptation (everything else was online which I'm firmly excluded from). So a bit nervous about that but nor do I want to throw away my 279 hard won gf days. Think I will try and keep busy and not take too much notice of the footy and not get sucked into any sweepstakes etc.

Online is much easier to avoid now as so many blocks in place and even the ads on TV are less irritating, my main strategy is keeping busy working a lot and studying for 2 lots of exams!!! Seems to be working so I'll carry on 🙂 take care all and keep strong . remember if you can beat this one day at a time you will develop mental toughness and be able to do so much so keep going challengers!!!

Checking in my 6th week gamble free. Still determined to keep this way and facing the urges as they come. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes is hell but coming through the other side stronger as the days go by. It’s the evenings I fear most as I’m normally on my own but I have controls in place that make impossible for me to access gambling sites in all my electronic devices. One day at a time. Have a good week everyone!

Mini catch-up - 13th June 2018

Good evening everyone. We're approaching the middle of the month. When in the throes of gambling, I would normally be skint by now and pining for payday at the end of the month. Beans on toast for 2 weeks kind-of-thing. A dulls-ville horrible feeling I never want to repeat. Much better to come home from work or wherever with a bit of money in my pocket. (Today, £1.60: what I had left out of the £5 I started with.)

It's not easy, I know that. But we've gotta try, whatever happens, whatever the provovation.

tara2 - I'm loving your posts, as always, and loving your attitude that can accept 'hard edge truths' that we all, myself included, need to hear. You're going great guns, Tara 🙂

Slot Fool - Cruising past the 200 day milestone and keeping that momentum. Thank you for checkng in. Great stuff, my friend: your progress puts a smile on my face and it's motivational to me, and all of us.

Bigmug - excellent. Two weeks under your belt with a payday that will soon appear over the horizon (unless you get paid weekly or otherwise). The big test to come; let's see the 'white of your eyes'. Let's see you get past a month, one day at a time. Get those blocks ready; consider all measures necessary.

4D - Very pleased to read of your progress. Forget the World Cup in terms of betting - it truly is a lottery this time round and the odds (and overround) will be stacked in favour of the operators. Don't even bother; waste of time and money. Enjoy the football by all means - they'll be some shocks alright, but keep your money in your pocket. Your studying is your future; you're quite rightly sticking to that. Doing really well 🙂

Determined Dan - thank you for your kind words! I've cut right back on the drinking: 7 pints , over 3 sessions, in 19 days. (Last bad binge 27th May. Can't do it anymore - doctors orders.) You're doing fantastic with a month gambling free. It shows you care, not just for yourself but those around you who want to see you succeed. Fantastic!

Serendipity - Do I like words like this: "...I have controls in place that make impossible for me to access gambling sites in all my electronic devices." Excellent stuff. If you put in the blocks, then you insure yourself against times of weakness. Top drawer!

Wardal1979 - Great to read that you're feeling good. And why not? Being gambling free is hard ... but there's no reason why it shouldn't be fun, too. Sure, the gambling 'devil' will be biting your ankles and sulking like mad but it doesn't mean you have to be dragged down too. Keep going !

JeffUtd - Congratulations on your half century - bullseye! You're showing a serious commitment which matters, my friend. One day at a time, keep it going. Remember - you don't have to be miserable and stressed; you don't have to gamble!

Christer1 - I am sincerely saddened to read that sad events that have happened to you have sent you into gambling again. Without question, when we are impacted by what happens to our loved ones, it can be incredibly difficult. I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your stepdad and equally sorry your daughter isn't well. You are in our thoughts; you are one of the 'gang'. I hope you didn't lose too much when you relapsed and hope that, whilst in this grief and concern for your daughter, you'll be able to go gambling free. You've enough to contend with, and, as a friend - anonymous but a friend - I don't want to see you get unnecessarily in a more difficult position. Take care, Christer.

adam808 - A lovely post to finish this mini-catchup. In fact my post of the week. What you wrote, I couldn't put better myself and sums up, what, in my opinion, is the best 'way to 'go':

"Felt close last night but thankfully the blocks I have in place make it impossible to gamble."

Perfect Adam, just perfect 🙂

Take care everyone - we're thinking of you Christer.

Until a few days time,

Mixer
