Hi, So I am an international student studying software engineering. I started playing online casinos in the last few months. At first, I enjoyed it very much because I was winning but then I started to lose money. I did not realise that I am putting all my tuition fees into gambling.Â
My parents are in India and their situation is not so good. Even though they sent me here to study and I had around 8000 pounds they gave for the fees. But it's me fu**ing stupid who wanted to earn money from gambling and it turned out wrong. Now I have lost all the money I had. Can not even tell my parents or any friends or family. I know I can not just get my money back but still it is very difficult at this for me because I have to pay my tuition fees and If I do not pay them I will be withdrawn from my studies and will have to go back to my home country. Sitting here, getting depressed vibes, totally hopeless, can not sleep etc. I just have no more words to explain my situation. Please if anyone is reading this, get in touch with me please.
Can I suggest getting in touch with your university as they will have people on the student body who can support you with guidance or support you with getting help for your problem.
You need to talk to someone so that you don’t feel alone at this time.
Good luck
Chris.
@chris-uk Yes, I would definitely do that and Thank you.

First off, you're not alone, and it's really brave of you to reach out about this—it’s a big step in the right direction. Gambling can spiral quickly, especially when it feels like you’re chasing losses, but there are ways to work through this.
For now, take a deep breath and focus on actionable steps. Most universities have support systems for students in financial trouble, like emergency funds, counseling, or financial advisors. Reach out to your university’s student support office as soon as possible—they’re there to help. They might also guide you on part-time work opportunities or loans for international students.

Right now, the most important thing is to take action. Try contacting your university’s student support services or counseling center. They might have emergency funds or know of financial aid options that could help you with your tuition fees. Some universities also have advisors who can guide international students through tough times like this.
