I have been trying to stop gambling on online slots for over 4/5 years-i am signed up to Gamstop for maximum time but am still finding online companies that I can gamble with.i am at my wits end and need a friendly ear.
I have been reading many posts on this site in hope if finding someone similar to me who understands how I feel.
I understand that gambling in all its forms is highly addictive and life killing and would appreciate anyones views and support.

Hi, I’m currently fighting this. Managed to sort out some recent debts, and have self excluded from several sites but just keep wasting so much time and money. I know it’s nowhere near as serious as some, but even now I’ve supposedly 'stopped' I'm still randomly throwing away hundreds of pounds. GamStop won't accept my online application which has meant I haven’t registered yet.

Thank you for your reply. I hope u get sorted with Gamstop soon. I think some of my problem is having noone who understands who i cantalk to in times of 'urge' .i think many of us would be helped by having a buddy or sponsor someone we can contact whos been there when we are struggling. Why are there no sites out there for this type of support?

Yes, I find the online slots so easy to get a quick win that lulls you in a false sense of security - so if I double my money once I kid myself that it doesn't count. It's too easy to just put another quick £50 and then think of it as harmless. Having someone we answer to, so to speak, would help me!! My partner suffers from anxiety and Ireally don't want to add to it. Feel like a bit of a fraud with him.

Hello girls...I became addicted to online slots several years ago...
Like you all....it took far to much money...time...and so much of me....all a bit of fun to start with...an escape from everyday life....a few wins to start with...it all seemed to be such fun.....but as we all now know....that doesn't last.....it soon turns us into deceitful liars. ....who's only focus in life. ....is the slots. ...
I've now been gamble free for nearly 3 years.....it can be done...with the right help and support....and the strength to fight this addiction....
Those slots.....often deliberately targeted at us girls. ...will only eventually take everything from you.....take a look at my diary....ring the helpline....start a diary on here.....read as much on here as you can....trust me....I thought of slots as my friend...someone who I could run to when life was grinding me down.....once I realised they were actually my worse enemy....the "friend " who was actually taking all my money.....taking me away from family and real friends....and ripping away at my self confidence....and turning me into a dishonest b***h. ...it all started to fall into place. ...I was able to focus on living my life without those slots. ...
Easy.....not at all....I lived on here 24/7 ....but each day....week...month etc....things improved.....and I'm now not controlled by an online slot machine .....
Take care girls....x

Thanks @loxxie - you are exactly right, I often have a really stressful day and think just a bit of time isn't too bad. It is so good to hear from others struggling with the same thing. Glad you managed to beat it!

Hello,

I got addicted to online slots, lost a disgusting sum of money before seeking help.

It's still early days for me and think I am around 170 days gamble free.

I don't miss it in the slightest once I was able to see clearly and long may that continue.

Hi

I’m not new here but have the same ongoing gambling issues mainly with slots. More recently I’ve been mainly going and blowing a few hundred every week or so and then doing credit card balance transfers to cover the losses . All in all I’m £10,000 in debt - of which if I’m honest the majority is gambling debt. I’ve been gambling since I was young but it’s been a problem for me for about 10 years I guess. Joined this site four years ago and still have the diary I started when I joined. I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs but always return to slots as I feel escapism and I’m addicted to the almost zombie like state and rushing feeling I get when playing . I can play for hours and hours and never get bored. For me it’s almost like a drug. I’m on day 2 and I’ve committed to quit until Boxing Day . Hopefully longer but this is my short term goal.

BDF

I was one of those addicted to slots ... must gave lost tens of thousands over the years ... you deposit ... win ... put it back... win... put it back lose etc etc. I hated myself, I was transferring money off credit card into my current account to gamble, just horrendous.

I have found Gamstop to be amazing ... I just can’t register, so can’t gamble. I am 4 months gamble free, still in debt, but with a plan, my current account looks healthy, and I am so much happier. The only way I was ever stopping was by doing this - it’s a bit scary, as I had been gambling for years, but honestly, it’s the best thing I have ever done (as much as a sometimes miss it ... which is a bit twisted)
