Hi All,
Something that's been playing on my mind.....
Would there be any sense in a regisitered membership for any person over 18 who wishes to gamble? Every bet you placed either on-line or in the high street would be recorded, the amount wagered that is, not details of the bet.Through the scheme the individual could set daily limits, the bookies could set limits too. (OK what range these limits could operate between is questionable). Maybe related to your credit score? Especially if funding with credit card. All CC's have limits depending on the individual. Betting with cash is a difficult one, don't really know the answer. Maybe someone can advise?
I could bet £500 funded by credit card but no way would I have walked in to a hight street bookies and handed notes over!
I just think such a scheme (forgetting the cost of putting it in place) has more options than stupid slogens like "If the fun stops, stop".
Should gambling effect your credit score? It's a point based system so I think something could be done.
Anyway I'd be interested in hearing other peoples views. You won't upset me with any bad comments either.
All the best.
I think the a membership card is a good idea, just like you have to have for a casino, you need to provide proof of ID (photo and age) and address(i think) to set up casino account. Dont think it is fessible to have restrictions attached unless requested by you, but it would make self exclusion a lot easier to enfore if you had to swipe a card everytime you placed a bet.
There's no such thing as controlled betting for a CG, can't see the point.
Better to focus on you and your recovery, Shep. Stay safe.

Hi CW,
I agree about the no control bit. However when I'm sat in GA or reading this forum and I see 18-30 year olds really struggling (no disrespectto others), I'd love something to be put into place to help or even act as a deterrent before things get out of hand. You know such a membership card scheme even if applying for the card stops a handful of people from not becoming addicted then it's done some good. It's so hard for these young people to even get their own homes these days, something that will get worse in the next few years.
Somethings better than nothing I suppose.
"I'm safe" thanks, I hope you weren't thinking I was at risk with this thread! I'm fine, in a really good place. TY
Anything that stops them making as much as they can wouldn't even be looked at. It cost's absolutely nothing to stick when the fun stops stop on the end of there glorifying adverts. I think gambaling on credit cards should be something the banking system should look into. I wouldn't even like to guess the amount of people that default using them so theoretically the banks are losing out?
Affected by gambling?
